Tom Cruise looks like he’s picked a remake of The Gauntlet as his first project once he’s finished Mission: Impossible 8.
Following the eventual completion of the next Mission: Impossible film, we’d imagine both Cruise and director Christopher McQuarrie will want to take a nice, long holiday. After that, though? It looks like they’ll be reuniting for a remake of the 1977 Clint Eastwood thriller, The Gauntlet.
News of the project first leaked in April and seemed to confirm earlier hints McQuarrie had dropped about their next collaboration. Having previously described their next project as “gnarlier” than the Mission: Impossible films, McQuarrie also added that “It’s something we’ve talked about for a really long time. It’s way outside of what you’re used to seeing Tom do. It’s the kind of stuff I really love. It’s a little bit more in my wheelhouse.

George Lucas’ Star Wars prequel trilogy chronicles Anakin Skywalker’s journey from Jedi to Sith along with the Galactic Republic’s descent into the Galactic Empire. Let’s just say that at this point, ‘Mission: Impossible’ can’t afford to keep having setbacks, but they do. After the double Hollywood strikes paused production on the blockbuster movie and led to a postponed release, malfunction with a £23 million submarine is adding further chaos into the mix.
Producers Are Not Happy About the Submarine Malfunction As Production Delays Lead To Massive Costs For Studio
‘Mission: Impossible’ has always used technological marvels to thrill fans and this time, they’re reportedly seeking to employ a submarine to continue this legacy.
This, of course, is not always easy to achieve as reports say that the gimbal, which is used to lower the 120ft-high structure, jammed under its weight, now needing repairs.
A source told The Mirror: “They’re not happy as it puts production behind, which costs a lot of money per day.”

During a tough time, Lopez surely has friends to lean on, but it seems one of her closest bonds, the one with Leah Remini, has been negatively impacted by her relationship with Affleck. The former besties allegedly had a falling out over Affleck more than two years ago.
How did Leah Remini and Jennifer Lopez become friends?
Jennifer Lopez and Leah Remini first met through Marc Anthony. Remini once revealed that she was at a movie premiere, and Anthony, with whom she had been friends for years, asked her to meet Lopez. When Glen Powell was initially offered the role of Hangman in Top Gun: Maverick, the actor wasn’t initially keen on playing the character. Fortunately, the Anyone but You star was eventually onboard with the role, which led to the actor’s ascend in Hollywood, who is currently one of the biggest bankable young stars on the planet.
However, things might not have been the same if Powell hadn’t instilled some changes in his Top Gun 2 counterpart, which was initially written to be a flat character that served no purpose.

The Divergent movies have arrived on Netflix, and fans can finally watch the journey of Shailene Woodley’s Tris Prior as she navigates the dystopian world where people are divided into factions. The first installment hit the big screen in 2014 and was followed by two more sequels.

Apparently, one actor who auditioned for the role of Tobias Eaton, aka Four, was initially rejected before joining the franchise for another part. In the end, he enjoyed being the antagonist rather than leading a failed franchise.

During his interview with Vulture, actor Miles Teller shared how he joined the Divergent movies. He revealed originally going for Four, but he failed to win the part.
I auditioned for Four originally and maybe, yeah, that would have been cool to do. But it’s nice to play against type.

Glen Powell was probably one of the best parts of 2022’s Top Gun: Maverick. Sure, the story and the action sequences were pretty damn good too but Hangman was certainly a treat to the eyes. However, Glen Powell was not always this ripped, obviously. It took a lot of perseverance and “Endurance” to get where he is today, quite literally.
Glen Powell in Top Gun: Maverick (2022) | Paramount Pictures
When Glen Powell was in his teenage years, he was offered a part in Endurance, a reality show that follows a similar script to that of CBS’ Survivor. Unfortunately, things didn’t work out for the actor on the show and he was eliminated much earlier than he expected. When he went back to school, he faced a lot of embarrassment thanks to his fellow students. That was when Glen Powell decided that he was going to turn his life around for good.

Filmmaker Steven Spielberg has helmed many iconic films of the generation. He is the man behind films such as the Indiana Jones franchise, Jurassic Park, Saving Private Ryan, and Schindler’s List. The two-time Oscar nominee has also been vocal about his favorite films and has always considered himself to be a lover of cinema first.
The director has appreciated others’ cinema on multiple occasions. He called Tom Cruise the savior of cinema for his contributions to the theater industry during the pandemic. One film that Spielberg loved, but was still disturbed by, was reportedly Taylor Sheridan’s directorial debut Wind River, which he reportedly saw after its screening at the Cannes Film Festival.

The Mad Max franchise is unarguably one of the most popular action franchises of all time, created by mastermind George Miller. While the star power connected to it — which includes notable names like Charlize Theron, Tom Hardy, and Mel Gibson — is one factor behind its epic success, its breathtaking action sequences and stunt scenes further set the saga apart from every other.

We're expecting to see some big cameos in Deadpool & Wolverine when it arrives in theaters later this summer.
However, it would be wise to keep expectations in check; after all, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness featured the likes of Professor X and Mister Fantastic but was somehow still deemed a disappointment by many fans (likely because rumours promised Spider-Man and an evil Iron Man played by Tom Cruise).
With that in mind, Deadpool & Wolverine might not be as star-studded as expected, especially with Avengers: Secret Wars on the horizon. Still, we're bound to see some characters from the X-Men franchise's past, right?

A new report suggests that Universal has a fourth film in The Mummy series planned, with Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz reprising their roles.
Here’s an interesting story to emerge from the rumour mill this morning. Reporter Daniel Rictman has claimed that a fourth film in The Mummy series is being developed at Universal. The project will reportedly see both Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz return to reprise their roles from the original trilogy which concluded with The Mummy –Tomb Of The Dragon Emperor in 2008.
Weiz didn’t feature in that instalment – as we covered in this look at why a fourth film never happened – and she wasn’t apparently satisfied with the script. However, Richtman (via World Of Reel) claims that both she and Fraser are on board for this next instalment, which would bring back a series that gave audiences some brilliant moments and launched the career of one Dwayne Johnson.

Jeremy Renner may have said goodbye to Mission: Impossible‘s world of espionage, but that doesn’t mean he would never return to the role of William Brandt.
The Hawkeye star entered the franchise in the 2011 installment, Ghost Protocol. At the end of 2015’s Rogue Nation, his character retired from his career in the Impossible Mission Force.
In an interview with Collider, Renner revealed there was one particular reason he left the franchise, despite reports at the time that he was being groomed to take over the lead role from Tom Cruise.
“I had to leave that,” the Mayor of Kingstown star told the publication. “I was supposed to do more with them. I love those guys. I love Tom so much. We had so much fun, and I love that character a lot. It requires a lot of time away. It’s all in London. I had to go be a dad.

Top Gun fans waited over thirty years for Top Gun: Maverick, but the wait was well worth it. The film was an overwhelming success, earning rave reviews and grossing $1.4 billion worldwide. Considering those box-office bucks, it shouldn’t come as any surprise that Paramount is developing Top Gun 3 with Tom Cruise expected to reprise his role as Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell alongside Bradley ‘Rooster’ Bradshaw (Miles Teller) and Jake ‘Hangman’ Seresin (Glen Powell).
Although we likely won’t have to wait as long as we did for Maverick, those involved with the threequel aren’t about to rush the project. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer gave a Top Gun 3 update to Games Radar, saying that he’s had “preliminary” conversations with Tom Cruise, but “we’re not there yet. [There’s] ways to go.“

Things often end up going out of control while filming or reading for intense scenes in a film and Val Kilmer’s The Doors is no stranger to this. The 1991 film was based on the short life of musician Jim Morrison and was titled after his rock band. The film focuses on many elements of the late singer’s life including his experience with hard drugs. The role of the vocalist was played by Val Kilmer and Meg Ryan played his girlfriend, Pamela Courson.

Sometimes, one of the shrewdest things a movie can do is to have its hero act in a way that’s not heroic or admirable or even very likable. In “Ezra,” Max Bernal (Bobby Cannavale), a stand-up comedian with a chip on his shoulder (he used to write for late night; now he performs edgy sets in places like the Comedy Cellar), is in a state of confused fury over what to do about his son, Ezra (William A. Fitzgerald), an owlish 11-year-old who’s autistic. Ezra attends public school in Hoboken, New Jersey, where he acts out, gets bullied, and responds to people on his own brainy but disconnected wavelength. His autistic behaviors aren’t particularly severe. He speaks in arcane pop-culture quotes, he’s scared that metal silverware will hurt his mouth, and he refuses to look you in the eye or allow himself to be hugged.

After five-plus decades of moviemaking, producer Jerry Bruckheimer is still breaking his own records. The Michigan native is one of the creators behind the modern-day concept of a crowd-pleaser, and with a résumé that includes the franchises of Top Gun, Pirates of the Caribbean and Bad Boys, it’s natural to assume that one of his many notable hits would boast his highest audience test score. However, that honor instead belongs to his latest film, Young Woman and the Sea, which opens May 31 in theaters.
Directed by his Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales filmmaker, Joachim Rønning, Young Woman and the Sea tells the underdog story of Daisy Ridley’s Gertrude “Trudy” Ederle, the largely unknown Olympic swimmer who became the first woman to swim across the English Channel in 1926. The heartwarming sports drama was originally intended to be a Disney+ exclusive, but when the record-setting test scores came in,...

Sometimes the genre of action movies can be perceived as the one that serves only to switch off your brain and to relax while the onscreen heroes save the world one more time. However, there are some action flicks, which are truly masterpieces that go beyond the genre’s limits, and that’s why every cinema lover should watch them.
Here are 6 of the worth-watching modern actions, most voiced by Redditors.
6. Kill Bill Vol. 1 (2003)

Top Gun: Maverick, the long-awaited sequel to Tom Cruise’s iconic 1986 film, was a massive success following its release in 2022. Quentin Tarantino is a lover of cinema first and a filmmaker second. The maverick director has often been vocal about his favorite films of all time as well as his current favorites. Tarantino has also criticized the changing landscape of the industry, echoing the sentiments of Martin Scorsese, who went on a war against the likes of Marvel and DC.
One film that Tarantino was pleasantly surprised by and loved was Tom Cruise’s action blockbuster Top Gun: Maverick. A sequel to Tony Scott’s 1986 classic, Tarantino appreciated director Joseph Kosinski’s vision and the respect he showed for the original. Though the Pulp Fiction director had a problem with Val Kilmer’s scene in the film, he mentioned that it still worked.

Despite getting mixed reviews at the time, Stephen Sommers' The Mummy proved to be a decent (if unspectacular) hit when it was released back in 1999, and has remained a firm fan-favorite over the years.
Two direct sequels and a Scorpion King spin-off starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson weren't nearly as successful, and Universal Pictures' more recent reboot starring Tom Cruise bombed to such a degree that it closed the tomb on the studio's plans for a Dark Universe franchise after a single movie.
Even so, rumors persist that another Mummy movie is in development. Previous reports have claimed that a new reboot or direct sequel to the '99 original might be in the works, but insider Daniel Richtman believes the project is actually going to be a prequel.
We don't have much more to go on for the time being, but Wes Tooke is said to be attached to pen the script.

Top Gun: Maverick came more than three decades after the release of the first film starring Tom Cruise in the lead, and yet, it was as much of a resounding success as the original film from 1986. However, unlike a lot of stuff and people that were brought back from the first movie in this 2022 one, legendary filmmaker Tony Scott wasn’t one because of his devastating demise in 2012.

Since the younger Scott wasn’t there, Cruise reportedly decided to approach the older and equally legendary Scott brother, Ridley Scott, to helm the second movie in his Aviation film series. However, he was surprisingly not only met with a declined request by the iconic director, with the movie going to Joseph Kosinski instead, but was even met with his film being considered mediocre by Ridley!

If there’s one thing Hollywood’s been obsessed with lately, it’s remakes and reboots. Well-established franchises tend to sell well, so why not rake up some more money from them, right?
Except that neither critics nor the audience buy into that anymore and dare demand actual good movies in order to spend their money on that popcorn.
The Mummy has already gone through getting a terrible reboot that failed, but apparently, it wasn’t enough: a new installment is in the works, and it’s a prequel.
The Mummy Prequel Reportedly in Development
Recently, famous industry insider Daniel Richtman took to his Patreon to deliver an unexpected update on The Mummy franchise. According to Richtman, a prequel movie is currently in development at Universal, with Midway’s Wes Tooke penning the script. This is yet to be confirmed as officially, Tooke is now working on the screenplay for The Thomas Crown Affair.

Glen Powell almost said no to his career-changing role in Top Gun: Maverick. Why? Well, he initially auditioned for the role of Rooster which, as we all know, went to Miles Teller. Disheartened by the loss and unamused by Hangman’s character, Glen Powell contemplated walking out of the film. That is until Tom Cruise had a word with him. Clearly, the two actors bonded during their time in the film.

If we were to only describe Tom Cruise with one single word, Daredevil would be the most apt choice. In his decades-long career spanning several action and thrilling flicks, there has hardly been a time when he has not put himself at risk. Whether it is a minor thing like hanging upside down to get his make-up done in Interview with the Vampire or jumping off a cliff multiple times to shoot one of the biggest stunts in cinema’s history, Cruise can do it all no matter how challenging or deadly it might be.

Tom Cruise worked alongside Julianne Hough for the first time in perhaps one of his most obscure features Rock of Ages. But after Hough sustained an injury for the feature, Cruise stopped the actor from pushing it too far.

Hough looked back fondly on her time with Cruise on the movie Rock of Ages. He starred as aspiring singer Sherrie Christian in the film adaptation to the Broadway musical of the same name. The movie featured an ensemble cast that included Cruise as a fictional rock star in the flick.
Because of the role, Hough had to emulate the performance of a real singer. But this wasn’t new territory for Hough, who had a somewhat similar journey to her Rock of Ages character. She received her big break in the television series Dancing with the Stars.

Glen Powell’s journey to fame wasn’t a smooth one, but it’s a testament to his perseverance. Despite having roles in popular movies and TV shows, it was his portrayal of Lt. Jake “Hangman” Seresin in Top Gun: Maverick that truly made audiences notice him. Glen Powell told some of his best Tom Cruise stories as part of a cover story interview with GQ UK magazine. The two actors became close friends during the production of “Top Gun: Maverick.” Powell originally auditioned for the role of Rooster, but he was beat out by Miles Teller. Cruise liked Powell and offered him the role of Hangman, but Powell had some notes.
“What we were talking about is, how can Hangman service the story and give the flavor of the original ‘Top Gun’ that you need?” Powell remembered saying to his A-list co-star. “I said my piece to Tom about what I do and what I do well, and he listened. British actor Henry Cavill has arrayed a wide range of roles in his screen career, but to the average moviegoer, he is probably best known as the most recent Superman in the four DC Comics films under the tutelage of Zack Synder. Despite his obvious physical strengths, Cavill’s performances in the dual roles of Clark Kent and the “Man of Steel” are considered by many to be more character-based than in other editions that reflects his priorities as an actor.
In fact, Cavill has taken on a number of other iconic characters in his career, from Sherlock Holmes in two “Enola Holmes” films, superspy Napoleon Solo in “The Man From U.N.C.L.E.” and even the mythological Theseus in “Immortals.” And while he usually portrays heroes, he’s not afraid of being a bad guy now and then, most notably as Tom Cruise’s nemesis in “Mission: Impossible – Fallout.”
