Theirs is an unstable relationship, built on unmet emotional need, lived in the shadow of her father's pursuit.

A Brazilian law however prohibits her from leaving the country without permission of her husband. Using a carnival procession as a cover she attempts to board a ship, but Claudio catches up with her and promising to be more of a husband, they reconcile.

They have been away for eight years. One was in boarding school and the other in prison. He takes his son out from the boarding school, and puts him temporarily in a friend's luxury and empty apartment in Copacabana beach. He is trapped in an almost empty apartment and having only the company of a TV set and a guitar. He knows very little about his father, and the latter cannot really explain his activities to his son, fearing for his security. So the young man stands alone in the huge apartment, waiting for the infrequent meetings with his father, without really knowing what's going on. Meanwhile he ends up facing the need to discover his own identity.

Rita visits the pimp Tim Mais and asks him to work as a prostitute using the nickname of Mystery to draw the attention of Paulo Roberto. Mystery becomes a hit among the clients of Tim. Their lives entwines when Paulo steals a can of marijuana that China had found in the sea, while Paulo Roberto, Tim Mais and Waldick fall in love for Mystery.

Two members of a gang that smuggles precious stones sewn in Carnival costumes see Belén and force the President of the Salgueiro Samba School to invite her to perform Chica da Silva in the Carnival parade in a costume that is adorned with genuine precious stones to be smuggled to Europe.
