For the past few years since the finale of Game of Thrones, David Benioff and Dan Weiss might have been slammed by fans. Perhaps, even repeatedly. Maybe, even viciously. But the iconic showrunners’ recent series, 3 Body Problem, managed to largely overshadow their previous failure: the first season of this epic sci-fi saga turned out amazingly, showcasing D&d true potential and skills.
However, despite 3 Body Problem’s success, we didn’t know much about the showrunners’ future plans for it until recently — but now, all cards are on the table.
How Many Seasons Will 3 Body Problem Have?

While, Hulu is not as flashy as some of the other streaming services like Netflix, Max, and Disney+, it has a solid library of shows that are both originals and licensed through various studios. Regarding sci-fi shows, Hulu doesn’t have any big names like 3 Body Problem or Westworld, but it makes up for that by carrying some great new and old shows like Devs and The X-Files, which were loved by millions of people. So, we thought of making a list of the best sci-fi TV shows you can find on Hulu right now.

Scavengers Reign Season 2 Release Date: When Will the Surprise Sci-Fi Hit Return on Netflix? - Main Image
Scavengers Reign delighted many sci-fi fans in late 2023 with its intriguing story and disturbing themes. With the first season being well received, the question is whether Scavengers Reign will get a season 2 and a release date announcement soon.
As the series ended back in November 2023, it should be all but certain that we won’t get a second season this year. After all, animated shows like these typically take well over a year to get a new season.
Scavengers Reign Season 2 Release Date Predictions
The sci-fi horror series Scavengers Reign premiered on Max in October 2023, and it got 12 episodes in total for season 1.
As with most streaming-exclusive shows, the series had a unique release schedule. Every week, three episodes were released, meaning its final three episodes were available in early November.

Spoiler Alert: The following reveals plot points from season one of Netflix’s 3 Body Problem
Who is Thomas Wade? As humanity readies its response to the approaching San-Ti fleet in season one of 3 Body Problem, little is revealed in the Netflix series about the person apparently leading the effort to save humankind.
“This guy, the man who has tried to save humanity is probably the least human of all the characters that are that are in there,” Liam Cunningham, the Irish actor who plays Wade, tells Deadline.
The show’s creators, David Benioff, D.B. Weiss and Alexander Woo, have just revealed 3 Body Problem will run to three seasons, allowing them to finish telling the story they are adapting from Liu Cixin’s Remembrance of Earth’s Past trilogy of sci-fi novels. Season one spans time and space to show humans making contact with aliens, the San-Ti. Despairing of our race’s failings,...

3 Body Problem creators David Benioff, D.B. Weiss and Alexander Woo on Friday cleared up the confusion over the Netflix sci-fi drama’s recent renewal, confirming that it will produce two more seasons.
At the streamer’s upfront presentation last month, the streamer announced that 3 Body Problem has been picked up for “all-new episodes”, with Benioff, Weiss and Woo assuring fans that they will “get to tell this story through to its epic conclusion.”
No number of episodes or seasons were revealed, creating a confusion and triggering wild speculation. Benioff, Weiss and Woo subsequently indicated to THR that the pickup was for “seasons” but have not provided specifics until today when they confirmed that there will be Seasons 2 and 3 during a 3 Body Problem Television Academy panel at the Netflix Fysee space.

The San-Ti may not be arriving on Earth for another 400 years. But, thankfully, you don’t have to wait that long for more 3 Body Problem.
On Friday, May 31, during the official Television Academy 3 Body Problem panel at the Netflix Fysee space at Sunset Las Palmas in Los Angeles, executive producers, showrunners, and writers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss (Game of Thrones) and Alexander Woo confirmed the mind-bending sci-fi drama will return for Season 2 and 3.
Benioff, Weiss, and Woo shared that they’re excited to finish telling the story that they intended. “We included a lot of what we loved from the [novels by Cixin Liu] in Season 1, but the vast majority of reasons we wanted to make this show are in Season 2,” said Weiss. “We always wanted to get to the final page of the third book, and it’s really,...

“3 Body Problem” will end with its third season on Netflix.
The sci-fi adaptation, which launched its first season in March, is officially set to air second and third installments before coming to a close, offering clarity to the streamer’s previous statement that it would return “with all-new episodes to take viewers through the full journey of this epic saga.”
The news was announced during the show’s Netflix Fysee panel on Friday.
The update comes less than a month after “3 Body Problem” was renewed mid-May during Netflix’s upfront presentation in New York City. However, the extent of that renewal was previously unclear.
“We’re thrilled that we get to tell this story through to its epic conclusion,” creators David Benioff, D.B. Weiss and Alexander Woo said in a joint statement at the time. “Ever since we read the last page of Cixin Liu’s magnificent trilogy,...

Science fiction and fantasy have inspired dozens of great television scores through the years, from “Battlestar Galactica” to “Game of Thrones.” Three more streaming series continued that tradition this season: “Silo,” “Fallout” and “3 Body Problem.”
Atli Örvarsson’s music for “Silo,” the Apple TV+ dystopian drama set in a bleak future where everyone lives in underground silos, was initially inspired by the setting. “It’s a mechanized world,” he says. “The technology you see is very, very old; the computers look like they’re from the ’80s, so there was always this idea that even the electronic sounds should be primitive, not slick.”
So he relied on Korg and Moog synthesizers from earlier eras, along with an unusual keyboard: the magnetic resonator piano, which uses electromagnets to create unusual sounds from the strings inside the instrument. “There’s a steampunk feel to the design of the show, and this is the ultimate steampunk instrument,...

In Netflix sci-fi epic series 3 Body Problem, British actor Alex Sharp stars as Will Downing, a terminally-ill scientist who not only manages profound romantic heartbreak, but ultimately transcends the limits of human existence.
Plucked straight out of Julliard to play the lead character of Christopher Boone in the Marianne Elliott-directed stage production of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, Sharpe won a Tony for the role. He went on to star opposite Lily Collins in the film To the Bone, as activist Rennie Davis in The Trial of the Chicago 7 and with Anne Hathaway and Rebel Wilson in The Hustle, before playing opposite Bill Nighy in Living and with Anthony Hopkins and Helena Bonham Carter in One Life, the 2023 film about British humanitarian Nicholas Winton, who rescued hundreds of Jewish children from occupied Poland.

Primarily known for their work on Game of Thrones before, the dynamic duo of producers Benioff and Weiss is now largely celebrated for their new Netflix series 3 Body Problem. However, D&d don’t intend to rest on their laurels: they’re already beginning work on a new project, tapping into an entirely different genre this time.
Forget low fantasy and sci-fi, Benioff and Weiss are heading for historical drama!
What Is Death by Lightning About?
3 Body Problem clearly endeared the Game of Thrones creators to the idea of working with Netflix as their next TV show Death by Lightning will also be made under the black-and-red banner. The upcoming series will take a step back from creative fiction like fantasy and sci-fi, focusing on historical drama, instead.
Spoiler alert: Death by Lightning is largely not about someone dying from lightning.

Bringing complex books to the screen is an extremely difficult task. Especially when we are talking about global fiction with many storylines, characters, narrative layers, and even genres.
The creators of the adaptation of Isaac Asimov's Foundation gave up trying to follow the original in the very first episodes – the result was a good, but completely different story. The creators of 3 Body Problem, David Benioff and D. B. Weiss, went a different way.
They did what they do best: transfered the plot of a famous book to the screen, making it more tense. The viewer is introduced to the modern world and immediately thrown into the past of China. And as soon as he gets used to it, he is immersed in the virtual world of the computer game with incomprehensible rules.

“It is something that haunts all production designers; it’s something that requires a lot of hard work,” admits four-time Emmy-winning production designer Deborah Riley (“Game of Thrones”) about striving for authenticity and realism, ensuring the look and feel of a series never comes across as too staged or artificial. “It’s layers and layers and layers, and oftentimes it comes down to [for example] a set painter, who will just touch all of those props and touch up all of the walls, and just make sure they feel a little bit lived-in. You know, a bit of a layer of dust over everything helps,” Riley laughs during our recent webchat, adding that, “you’ve got to look at everything and squint slightly and add yourself. You never want anything to feel or look like a prop or dressing. It’s got to feel like someone to put it there for a reason.

When Taylor Swift took over The AMC at The Grove to debut “The Eras Tour” last October, cars wrapped around the block. With the official kickoff event for what would become a $261.6 million box office hit filling auditoriums with celebrities — while outside hundreds of screaming fans swarmed the luxury mall’s towering parking deck and famed Cheesecake Factory Observational Deck — it seemed as though presidential motorcades had inconvenienced SoCal less than a single night at the movies with planet Earth’s favorite pop star.
No one is complaining about a visit from Taylor Swift, of course; least of all the film lovers who in 2023 rightly hailed her as a dark horse savior of cinema in a dire time. Still, when contrasted with Lady Gaga’s pared-down world premiere for HBO’s “Gaga Chromatica Ball” — a tidy event with an enthusiastic but small line on the sidewalk and a single-block road...

Welcome to Emmy Experts Typing, a weekly column in which Gold Derby editors and Experts Joyce Eng and Christopher Rosen discuss the Emmy race — via Slack, of course. This week, we reassess drama, now with “Shōgun.”
Christopher Rosen: Hello, Joyce! It’s Friday and we went from having no clear frontrunner in the Best Drama Series category to what seems like a runway favorite. Last week, FX finally announced “Shōgun” will compete as a drama series as two additional seasons are being planned for… sometime in the future. Good for Justin Marks and Rachel Kondo and producer and star Hiroyuki Sanada. Not only will they get paid for spearheading the year’s one real breakout show not named “Baby Reindeer,” but they’re also more likely than ever to win Emmys for their work. Movie writers and long-term collaborators D.B. Weiss and David Benioff are arguably most known for their work on HBO’s Game of Thrones. However, the two have worked on a range of other extremely popular projects, such as It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, 3 Body Problem, and Leslie Jones: Time Machine.
The two almost added to this list a new Star Wars trilogy that they almost took up back in 2019. In an interview earlier this year, Weiss and Benioff revealed exactly what led to the cancellation of the project, which they ironically wanted to title The Last Jedi.

Not only was LucasFilm not interested in the concept, they ended up using their title, The Last Jedi, for the second installment of the trilogy series that eventually came out. Weiss even claimed that the two were left annoyed when Rian Johnson’s 2017 movie ended up with the same title,...

During Netflix’s upfront presentation last week, the streaming service promised “additional episodes” of 3 Body Problem, the hugely expensive sci-fi drama from Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, but what does that mean exactly?
“Additional episodes” could mean just about anything, but 3 Body Problem showrunners David Benioff, D.B. Weiss, and Alexander Woo reached out to THR to clarify that the new deal was for “seasons” of 3 Body Problem. Yep, that’s plural. “We knew going into this how many hours we need to tell the rest of the story because we’ve got a roadmap through to the end,” Weiss said. “And we have what we need to get to the end as intended from when we started.“
The exact number of “additional episodes” wasn’t specified, but Benioff added, “By the time we finish with the show, it will be seven years we’ve devoted to it.

One of the biggest 3 Body Problem mysteries since the show ended has been: What did Netflix’s renewal announcement mean, exactly?
During the streamer’s upfront presentation last week, Netflix promised “additional episodes” of the acclaimed sci-fi drama to “finish the story.”
Of course, “additional episodes” could mean anything from two episodes to five seasons and, naturally, many fans worried that the ultimate answer would be too close to the former for comfort.
But showrunners David Benioff, Dan Weiss and Alexander Woo assure things are going to be just fine (for the show, at least, if not for their ensemble drama’s characters facing an alien invasion). While the trio didn’t reveal the exact number of episodes in their new deal, they emphasized it was for “seasons” — plural — and that the number of hours aligns with their original plan to adapt author Liu Cixin’s two remaining novels in his Hugo-winning trilogy.

Last Thursday, FX confirmed that its adaptation of James Clavell’s “Shōgun” will continue past its first season and thus compete as a drama series rather than a limited one at the upcoming Emmys. Since it had spent the preceding three weeks as Gold Derby’s predicted Best Limited Series winner and was expected to reap several acting nominations, every drama and limited race was shaken up by its reclassification – and the dust still has not settled.
Within 48 hours of the “Shōgun” shift, our 2,500+ Emmy predictors came to the consensus that it will be nominated for Best Drama Series and all of the corresponding main acting awards. Even lead actor Cosmo Jarvis and supporting actress Moeka Hoshi, who never quite managed to reach predicted nominee status before, quickly broke into our forecasted drama lineups. “The Crown” can only play a pair of Queens at the Emmys.
Emmy winner Olivia Colman, who portrayed Queen Elizabeth in the series finale episode of Netflix’s monarchy drama, is not eligible to submit in the guest drama actress race by only a few seconds. However, her co-star Claire Foy, who also portrays Her Majesty in her younger years and appears in the same episode, is eligible and will be the sole guest submission for the series, angling for her second win in the category.
The “Sleep, Dearie Sleep,” written by Peter Morgan and directed by Stephen Daldry, clocks in at a robust 72 minutes, the longest of any episode across its six seasons. One of Netflix’s biggest hits of this year was the sci-fi series 3 Body Problem. Adapted from the eponymous book series by Chinese author Liu Cixin, the series captured the attention of fans due to its complex story and great production, as well as the brilliantly written characters and casting choices. While a lot of fans thought it was complex and were somewhat confused by the differences between the series and the books, the series received positive reviews from critics and fans, so it was expected that Netflix would renew it for a second season. And that has just happened! We are happy to confirm that Netflix has officially renewed the 3 Body Problem for a second series!
The series has been officially summarized by Netflix as follows: “3 Body Problem explores how humanity chooses to respond to its gravest threat. Starting off during China’s Cultural Revolution in the ’60s,...

One genre that has experienced a renaissance in recent years is Sci-Fi. And while many people continue to enjoy more fun and adventurous pieces like Doctor Who, others are looking for something a little more mind-bending and science-based to binge on. 3 Body Problem turned out to be the perfect show for them.
Though people still compare the Netflix production to the C-drama original, which could spend more time on details considering it consisted of 36 episodes, the new iteration has received a lot of praise and ended up landing at the 79% mark on Rotten Tomatoes for its first season. In the scientific world, there remains to this day no single solution to the three-body problem. But if you — like us — are fans of Alexander Woo and Game Of Thrones creators D.B. There’s more mind bending sci-fi in our future as Netflix orders more episodes of their popular series, 3 Body Problem.
Variety reports that Netflix has renewed 3 Body Problem, the ambitious sci-fi series from Game Of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, for “additional episodes”. The streamer isn’t calling this a season 2, but it seems to be giving Benioff, Wise and their co-creator Alexander Woo a chance to tie up loose ends.
The creators previously said that they’d need “at least three, maybe four seasons” to finish the story off. According to Variety’s reporting of the press releases, the exact number of episodes and seasons will be announced later.

There is lots of news dribbling out of Netflix today.
While we don’t have many details, we might as well get the discussion started.
Here’s what we’ve got.
Adam Sandler Revives Happy Gilmore
For fans of Adam Sandler, the movie Happy Gilmore might be one of his greatest achievements.
Golfers rarely get the movie star treatment despite the amount of money that goes to the winners, but this 1996 movie uses adversity to push him toward the big prize.
Today, Netflix announced that they’d be reviving Mr. Gilmore, but little else is known.
Should some of Happy’s old rivals return?
Christopher McDonald played Happy’s rival Shooter McGavin, and he mentioned the project in March.
Whether that means he’ll be along for the ride remains to be seen.

Given the massive amount of resources that Netflix committed to "3 Body Problem" (not to mention the lengthy stay at the top of Netflix's Top 10 lists since its debut), it was likely only a matter of time before the streaming giant made the obvious official. That's finally happened, and now fans of one of the nerdiest, densest, and most existential sci-fi book series ever written can look forward to showrunners and co-creators David Benioff, D.B. Weiss, and Alexander Woo's take on what's widely considered to be the best book of the alien-invasion trilogy.

When Game of Thrones TV series creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss set out to craft an epic series called 3 Body Problem, an adaptation of a trilogy of sci-fi novels written by Chinese author Liu Cixin, for the Netflix streaming service, they were hoping to get four seasons out of the material. But when the first season of 3 Body Problem started streaming in March and pulled in a sizeable but underwhelming number of views, some began to question whether or not Netflix would want any more episodes of the big budget show. Now The Hollywood Reporter has broken the news that Netflix has indeed ordered more episodes – but just enough to allow Benioff, Weiss, and co-creator Alexander Woo to wrap up the story. Exactly how many episodes that will be has not yet been revealed.

Netflix announced on Wednesday that it had “renewed” “3 Body Problem,” but the streamer notably didn’t refer to the extension as a “Season 2.” Instead, it appears to be more of a case of Netflix ordering “additional episodes” instead of a new, full Season 2 order.
Per a press release, the exact number of seasons and episodes will be announced at a later date.
It appears that the order will take the series to its finale, as creators David Benioff, D.B. Weiss and Alexander Woo noted in a statement that they “get to tell this story through to its epic conclusion.” In an April interview with Collider, Benioff said the team would “need at least three, maybe four seasons to tell the whole story.”

Netflix is going to bring back — and even conclude — 3 Body Problem.
The streamer has greenlit additional episodes that will eventually wrap the acclaimed sci-fi epic from David Benioff, Dan Weiss and Alexander Woo.
“We’re thrilled that we get to tell this story through to its epic conclusion,” the showrunners said in a statement. “Ever since we read the last page of Cixin Liu’s magnificent trilogy, we hoped we’d be able to bring the audience to the end of the universe with us. Here we go!”
There’s no word yet, however, how many seasons or episodes the order will entail. The showrunners had previously hoped to get a total of four seasons to adapt the three books in Liu’s trilogy.
In addition, Game of Thrones creators Benioff and Weiss have renewed their overall deal with the streamer to write, produce and direct new series and films.
