He meets with the State prosecutor, admits his own participation, and agrees to help bring down the Klan in his town.
- A former Bar 20 cowhand is now a cattle rancher and having trouble with rustlers. Hoppy and the Bar 20 gang ride in and surround the the bad guys. June Winters joins the posse and serves as the romantic partner for posse co-leader Lucky.

- An orphan boy on his way to live with his uncle picks up a stray dog, and the two become fast friends. However, the uncle doesn't want the dog, and when chickens are found dead, the uncle accuses the dog of killing them. The boy decides that it's time he and the dog hit the road so they run away, and meet up with an elderly man who also ran away from a home where he believed he wasn't wanted either.
- Based on and built around the west coast radio program, "The Hollywood Barn Dance", although no members of the 1947 cast of the program are in the film, but the better-known (on a national scale) Ernest Tubb and His Texas Troubadors, Jack Guthrie and Jimmy and Leon Short more than make up for that. The slight plot, around 18 songs, begins with Tubb and his band searching for $2000 needed to rebuild their town chuch after it burned down while they were rehearsing in it. Hollywood, here they come.
- A pretty and gentle schoolteacher from Boston transforms the lives of a spoiled boy and the other residents at 'Bar 20' Ranch, and is courted by Crockett city's Mayor, who is really a livestock thief.
- Mendoza ruthlessly controls the valley of San Fernando and his men guard the only entrance. When Mendoza announces he will marry Michael's girl friend Maria, Michael plans an escape. He hopes to reach the Governor and bring back the troops.
- The rebellious daughter of an army general becomes involved with a communist agitator, much to the consternation of her father, who instead attempts to pair her with a handsome yet dim-witted soldier.
- Outlaw miners have been stealing ore from Ann Dennis' mine. Hoppy spends much of his time running around in the mine shafts tracking down the crooks.
- Hoppy goes undercover as an outlaw (which permits him, for once, to drink and be mean to children) to track down a bunch of outlaws operating along the border. Loco, the head bad guy, deflects suspicion from himself by pretending to be a moron.
- A small town minister adopts an orphan boy and his injured rodeo horse.
- Disguising himself as a milquetoast Easterner who writes Western novels, Hoppy enrolls in a dude ranch in order to unmask the murderer of the owner's husband.
- Wilcoxon, a Scotland Yard inspector, travels to New York to investigate the activities of an international band of jewel thieves.
- Lingerie salesman Johnny Dill, thought to be a killer gangster, finds himself struck between the forces of good and evil.
- Susan Hart, assistant to private detective Russ Ashton, is given a camera concealed in a hat box and assigned to take a picture of a woman. A gun is accidentally hidden in the box and the woman is killed. Susan is charged with murder, but Russ and his less-than-useful associate, Harvard, get on the case and prove that the fatal shot was fired by the killer from across the street.
- An "exotic dancer" is thrown in jail for "lewd activity." She later discovers the raid was set up by her boss to get publicity.
- Hoppy's brother has been murdered and he is on the trail of the murderers. To get them he makes himself seem to be a wanted man.
- Hoppy and Lucky confront a gang of outlaws which has been ravaging stagecoaches and gold mines. The final gunfight is at Ed Colby's mine.
- A couple of theatrical producers try to get backing for their musical show.
