- MY SECRET RECORD: Or How I Learned to Stop Worrying & Love the Biz traces the creative process and aggressive marketing campaign of Rob Thomass Billboard history making solo debut, Something to Be. Who are these marketing gurus responsible for creating the perception that feeds the late night talk shows, Best Buys and Targets of the world? And how does a multi-platinum artist cope in todays climate of corporate sponsored music, walking the line between preserving his integrity and selling-out? Shot during the making of Rob Thomass solo debut, Something to Be - this intimate music documentary follows the songwriter through one of the busiest and most challenging times of his life. He finds himself pulled in all directions from writing and recording his own album and collaborating with other artists, to countless press junkets, red carpet arrivals, music videos and ad campaigns. He struggles to find balance musically while satisfying the expectations and commercial demands of his new regime at Atlantic Records. Yet Robs biggest challenge was his most personal: supporting his wife through an ongoing battle with an auto-immune disease a lot of which made its way onto the record.
