- Mamele embraces the entire gamut of interwar Jewish life in Lodz - tenements and unemployed Jews, nightclubs and gangsters, religious Jews celebrating Sukkot - but the film belongs to Molly Picon who romps undaunted through her dutiful daughter role saving siblings, keeping the family intact, singing and acting her way through the stages of a woman's life from childhood to old age.
- One of the last Yiddish films made in Poland before the Nazi invasion, this film tells the story of a mother's persistent struggles to support her three children in pre-war World War II Polish Ukraine. After her family is pulled apart by severe poverty and the turmoil of war, she and her children make their way to New York and turn to the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society for help.
- Staying at a fancy resort, Wladyslawa Majewska is mistaken as a male guest when she is dressed in a skiing outfit. The manager offers her, thinking she is a he, a job as a dancer to entertain the unescorted ladies who frequent the hotel. Wladyslawa goes along with the offer, and keeps the old ladies dancing but falls in love with the best-looking male guest in the process, who thinks she is a man.

It is the moment General Petypon du Grêlé, Lucien's rich uncle, chooses to make an unexpected visit. The good doctor has no other choice but to pass Crevette off as his lawful wife.
- A film touching on the current problem of young Polish women forced into prostitution abroad. The plot revolves around the fate of Marysia Zurkówna, who, following the tempting whispers of "well-wishers" and believing in a better life in the other hemisphere, decides to leave the country. However, when he lands on the "promised land", it turns out that reality is painfully different from his dreams. The girl will have a "career" as a prostitute. Lost and helpless, she tries to defend herself. However, she cannot achieve much on her own. Only Polish sailors will help her, freeing her from the brothel "for a moment" before her debut in a new "profession".
