The program starts with Gary arriving at the station in a fire truck, and heading into the station to great the audience. A basic segment covering fire hazards kicks things off, followed by segments on calling 911, Stop, Drop and Roll, and safe procedures for getting out of a burning building. Comic relief is provided by the character of Firefighter Bob, who shows up at times as a foil for Gary.
