- "Rederiet" is one of the most successful soap opera in the history of the Swedish television. The story is about the passenger company (Freja), who operates on the Baltic sea between Stockholm -Åbo. And it takes place both in Stockholm (mostly in the office of the company) and on board m/s Freja. Well. The company (Dahlénrederiet) has for decades been run by the Dahlén family. But when the story begins so are there many people who are trying to gain control over the company, which leads to a constant struggle for the power. As well is it also a constant struggle for higher positions between the personal on the ship and some people use their position to make some extra money. And in the middle of all this problem are the of course many troubles with the passengers or with the ship which have to be solved. So there is (as always in a soap opera), terrible accidents, deaths, murders, smuggling, theft, infidelity, arson, rape, drugs and many other terrible things. But there will also be a lot of love and friendship and maybe some unknown relatives will show up.

- This series contains six different stories. Each story is based upon a book written by Åke Edwardsson. The first story, "Dance with an Angel," begins when a man is found dead, murdered in a hotel room in London. Shortly afterward, a similar murder is committed in Gothenburg, where Erik Winter is working. It seems like a macabre dance has been performed in the room where the killings have been committed.

- Lena Svensson has been offered a new and exiting job in Stockholm that she can't say no to. But her husband, Gustav, has no plan of what so ever to move from his quiet little town of Vivalla, and especially his job as a very proud postman. After Lena started to commute between Stockholm and Vivalla, he decides to sell the house and give Stockholm a chance. He starts of with a job as a postman in one of Stockholm's worst districts, but after a mistake on a conference, Gustav seems to do quite a success at his new job, while Lena is struggling with annoying colleagues and a demanding boss.
- Kersti, Mats fiancee, has given birth to their illegitimate son with the help of an old midwife. Kersti and Mats are about to get married. But Mats's family demand that Kersti must be a virgin.
- At Boda, Egon expects Gösta to come home and take over, but Gösta wants to become an air force officer. Orvar works for an expansion of the great rapids. For Britta, both the boarding house business and her love for Enekrona are thriving.
- Egon's foot is getting worse, but he won't sell a rapids that has been around for 1000's of years. He prefers then to litigate while he waits for Gösta to come home and take over the farm. Eventually, Gösta arrives to set things straight.
