But Happy Heart distrusts the witch Woman and will not choose. Meeting Storm Cloud, the witch proffers moccasins of evil destiny as those chosen by his daughter. But the Chief having accepted Blade Hawk for his son-in-law, hurls the moccasins over the cliff. They fall at Happy Heart 's feet, and she accepts the "happy " omen. But the bewitched moccasins send Bright Eagle to his death in the pool. Happy Heart is saved from Black Hawk, and her soul becomes the guardian spirit of Weeping Waters.
