- The Taheri family has just landed in Canada, but their arrival starts off on the wrong foot. An immigrant story about sacrifice, humility and shoes.
- Steph (Katie Boland) and Mike (Noah Reid) meet at a burger joint in downtown Toronto. Their initial encounter ends well, when Mike 'gets the number'. As time goes by the relationship blossoms and they make a tradition of always coming back to the same place they met every year for their anniversary. Year by year, at the same burger joint, we see them evolve, from doting on each other, to supporting, to tolerating and eventually to bickering and fighting. Will the maturity that time brings to every couple be enough to save their relationship? Or will they both end up heart broken like so many other twenty somethings trying to get a handle on the delicate balance between love and life?
- How would it feel to have your home torn apart by a soldier's rifle? To see your family destroyed by a war that you don't understand? These are questions that Erica Johnson, a nice year old girl growing up in a small suburban North American town, will soon be able to answer.
- On a deserted country highway, just south of EXIT 34, Bruce and his wife Carrie have run out of gas. Bruce, deciding to take the initiative, heads off, canister in hand, to find the nearest pump, leaving Carrie behind to stay with the car in case someone drives by. On the same highway, Gord sits by himself, waiting for a reason to get up, until Bruce shows up, looking for a gas station. And the deal is made, Gord will guide Bruce to the nearest pump, in exchange for a ride to where he needs to go. So the two of them head off down the road and over a bridge, but somehow, even though they are walking the opposite way, they come across Bruce's car, and Carrie is nowhere to be found. Where could she have gone? How did they get back around to the car anyway? And what does EXIT 34 have to do with all this? As Bruce contemplates all these questions, Gord gets increasingly more impatient, and needs to take some drastic measures to show Bruce the answers that he's looking for.
- A frozen lake, a fishing hut, a bloodied up body, a case full of money - this is the scene that a solitary fisherman stumbles upon while out on what was supposed to be a quiet day of ice-fishing.
