- Seven chosen mages and their summoned heroic spirits fight against each other to try and win the Holy Grail: a magical device that can grant any wish.
- The plot follows a few stories, first one being about Shiki looking after a cat Mikiya left her. Second story covers a much more grim topic of suicide and dealing with loss. Last story revolves around a New Year's celebration and wishes.
- The grail war will start eight years later from the birth of Kiritsugu's daughter. Matous and Toushaka family arranged their plans to summon the Holy grail and fulfill their wish. Tohsaka tokiomi made his student Kirei a master for the Holy grail to be as a puppet. Zouken from matous family made his Kariya a master. All the 7 masters then call upon their servants to fight for them to bring the Holy grail home.
- Kiritsugu and company are wrapping up after the assault on their castle, and the Einzbern Master decides to ignore Saber's desire to pursue Caster, instead leaving to finish off Kayneth. But Kayneth awakens to find himself bandaged and strapped to a bed.
- A car screams down the moonlit streets of Fuyuki City, with a very happy-go-lucky Irisviel behind the wheel and a slightly unnerved Saber sitting next to her. The evening takes a bad turn when a mysterious shadow darts in front of them.
- All the servants have been summoned and now it is a game of spy vs spy. Who will be the first to take the initiative in Fuyuki City?
- The rules are altered by the caretaker due to an emergency situation created due to Caster's unethical abuses. The battle between Caster vs other Servants keeps taking interesting turns.
- Waver has a hard time commanding his Servant Rider Iskander, as Rider is more interested in how the world has changed since his time and intends to conquer it once he wins the war. Saber has formed a poor opinion of Kiritsugu, considering him cold-hearted, but is surprised to see him have a tender moment with his daughter Illya. Saber also admits she admires Kiritsugu and Iri's wishes to save the world, as she also wishes to save Britain.
- Rider and Caster reconnect with their Masters when they delve deeper into their views. Caster wants to show his Master something he never saw which brought the attention of other Servants.
- Rider suddenly appears just as the battle with Lancer reaches its climax, much to Saber's consternation. Undeterred, Rider calls out to those observing the fight from the shadows... but it seems he's not the only heroic spirit drawn in by the battle.
- Battle rages throughout Einzbern Castle: Kayneth's magical mercury sphere versus Kiritsugu's formidable gun arsenal, Saber and Lancer join forces against Caster in the forest, and Irisviel detects a new enemy as she and Maiya make their escape.
- Saber and Lancer face each other to a death battle while their Masters keep themselves hidden. Other Masters and Servants have been watching the whole fight from the very beginning. Soon the fight reaches its climax.
- The mystery of the mass kidnappings in Fuyuki remains unsolved, with more kids disappearing daily. When Tohsaka Rin can't get in touch with her friend Kotone, she braves the darkness and enters the city on her own to search for her.
- Rider and Waver, unexpectedly arrive at Einzbern Castle. Rider declares his intention to have a peaceful discussion with her and Archer on the subject of kingship and the wishes they want the grail to grant.
- Hidden in a Fuyuki hotel, Kiritsugu tries plan his next move, but is still at a loss regarding Kirei's motives. Elsewhere, Iry and Saber have moved to a new hideout, but while Iry seems excited about their new location, Saber senses something is amiss...
