Marion seems convinced, but Helen is heartbroken when she discovers what she considers the proof of Anthony's perfidy. Anthony and his chum try to steal the incriminating love letters from Marion's room and are caught in the act. At the psychological moment Marion and her attorneys are identified as a couple of blackmailers engaging in a plan to mulct Anthony and the Griggs family of some of their money.
- When Eve De Montalais (Lois Wilson) plans to smuggle her jewels into the United States, unknown to her traveling on the same ship are a gang of thieves who plan to steal the jewels. Michael Lanyard (Bert Lytell), alias The Lone Wolf, upsets their scheming and Eve seeks his aid in getting the gems past customs officials. While at a New York nightclub, Eve is informed that Lanyard is The Lone Wolf. She is then duped by a crook who assumes the role of a customs officer and induces her to turn over the jewels, Eve then escapes upon discovering the deception. Lanyard is overpowered by the gang but manages to free himself and declares the jewels to customs officials, who then promptly arrest the thieves. Eve is relieved to find that Lanyard is a Secret Service agent, and the lovers are reunited.
- During the American Civil War, A Union-Army officer is ordered by U. S. President Abraham Lincoln to bring in Belle Starr, the leader of a Missouri guerrilla band, dead or alive. However, he falls in love with her, does not bring her in, and is facing a court-martial.

- Philip Durban, a wealthy iron manufacturer, marries Claire Bowdoin, the young daughter of a family of impoverished blue-bloods. Claire eventually comes to love Philip, but he fails to respond to any of her advances. She eventually goes abroad, where she encounters Prince Novakian, an Italian, who becomes infatuated with her. Philip learns of Novakian's amorous advances and goes to Italy, where he is challenged to a duel for taking a punch at the prince. Philip is wounded in the duel, and Novakian is slain. Under the stress and excitement of the moment, Claire casts aside her pose of indifference and rushes to her husband, tending his wounds and at long last convincing him of her love.

Ruth tells Al her life story and he makes it into a best-selling novel and then into a play. Jimmy sees the play, comes to his senses, winning Ruth's forgiveness.
- Two golf widows, Ethel Dixon (Kathleen Key) and Mary Ward (Sally Rand), decide to get even with their husbands, John Dixon (Will Stanton) and Ernest Ward (Vernon Dent), by going to the Tijuana horse-races with a wealthy broker, Billy Gladstone (John Patrick) and an insurance salesman Charles Bateman (Harrison Ford). Complications arise when Bateman's fiancee Alice Anderson (Vera Reynolds) shows up.

When Mack's wife insists on joining the nightclub party, Eve is introduced as Mrs. Ford. While listening to a radio broadcast from the nightclub, Mrs. Ford is alarmed by the announcement that a certain dance tune has been requested by "Mr. and Mrs. Tom Ford." Ford enlists his son to help extricate him from his difficulties with the boorish couple. Tom agrees to help if Ford, Sr., will consent to his marriage. After the party moves to the Ford home, the intoxicated Mr. Mack and his corpulent wife decide to stay the night. As they are about to retire, Mrs. Ford returns and calls the police, having seen an unfamiliar figure raiding her icebox. Tom explains the situation to everyone's satisfaction and introduces Eve as his bride.
