But on day 257 Patrick decides he isn't going to live in fear of an inevitable death anymore. He is going to try and re-discover the passion for a life he once had.
- It was billed as a one-in-fifty year storm, the perfect coming together of natures most brutal elements to form an event that would re-write big wave surfing's history books and turn a ragtag bunch of local surfers in to household names. But it was also an event that very nearly didn't happen and only six months prior also saw the creator of Red Bull Cape Fear almost lose his life to the sport he has dedicated his entire life to. In this half hour documentary we see behind the scenes of the 2016 Red Bull Cape Fear event for the first time through the eyes of its creator, big wave surfer Mark Mathews. The human sacrifice, blood sweat and tears that goes in to creating an event that would change the way the world looks at big wave surfing, forever.
