- The town of Logan Lake spent 18 years preparing for a wildfire they hoped would never come. Then, in 2021, it did. This is the story of Logan Lake's 18 year quest to become more fire resilient, resulting in them becoming the first FireSmart community in Canada. In 2021, when the Tremont Creek Wildfire roared toward Logan Lake, that 18 years of work was put to the test.
- Amelia is grieving after the death of her adult daughter, Lizzie, from cancer. Her isolation drives a wedge between her and her husband, Andrew, who is also grieving. Ever present is a Lizzie-Shaped Hole in the lives of all who knew her, and Amelia fears this hole, where all her joy has disappeared, will grow as she goes through her daughter's possessions. She tackles the boxes with sadness and dread. Lizzie knew this would happen. She wrote a list of things she wanted to give people on a napkin, under the heading "When I'm Dead", and planted surprises for her mother to find among the boxes of her things. Despondent, Amelia reaches into a box and pulls out something she never expected - something a young woman wouldn't normally want her mother to find. Amelia is shocked and horrified - and then she laughs for the first time in many months. Suddenly she can see a light in the darkness of the Lizzie-Shaped Hole.
