- Catalina is a single latin LA native. When we meet her, Catalina lives alone. Her only companions are her taxidermy rats, her collection of decorative skulls, her grandmothers ofrenda (alter of candles to remember her passing) , and her beloved cat Mexica. But this night is the night of love. Catalina's first stop is at Miss Marquez's Hollywood bungalow. There, Catalina, Marquez, and Reign get ready for a girls night out, with a flurry of outfit changes, shots of tequila, and giggle fits. After taking a cab driven by what seems to be a very shady character (The Reverend who performed the Star and directors marriage during the production of the film) the three end up at a sidewalk bar in downtown Los Angeles. Running out on his current date, along with the bill, John Magick whips Catalina away into the fog of love with a dance that guides us through the early stages of the young new couples relationship. When the mist of new love settles, Catalina finds her lover in the arms of another woman at a flamenco show. A violent dance between the two lovers ensues while they break up. Catalina Finally has had it and runs into the night. By morning Catalina has abandoned her former persona and has emerged atop a skyscraper in a dazzling Ballet folklorico dress which Catalina performs her heart out in until her strength and power can not longer be contained by traditional garb. Catalina tares off the weight of tradition, dependence, cultural pressure and clothing to emerge a stronger, prouder woman. This was the rebirth of Catalina De La Rosa.
