- DirectorDavid LynchStarsBill PullmanPatricia ArquetteJohn RoseliusAnonymous videotapes presage a musician's murder conviction, and a gangster's girlfriend leads a mechanic astray. It feels like a confusing and sub-par cop of a David Cronenberg movie, but made by David Cronenberg.
- DirectorYu WangDusty NelsonStarsChuck ConnorsMike KellyGeorge NicholasNinjas steal a research tape. Colonel chuck connors sends two agents undercover to retrieve it. Ninjas are sent to scare them off. The two seek help and are trained by a ninja master to become Ninjas themselves.Totally nuts and utterly terrible. Quite possibly the best ninja movie ever made?
- DirectorKeanu ReevesStarsTiger Hu ChenKeanu ReevesKaren MokA young martial artist's unparalleled Tai Chi skills land him in a highly lucrative underworld fight club.I respect what they were trying to do here. But the story is contrived and the fight scenes do too much of the heavy lifting.
- DirectorH.B. HalickiStarsH.B. HalickiMarion BusiaJerry DaugirdaAfter an attempted theft of his daughter's husband's car, LAPD Captain Gibbs declares war on master car thief Maindrian Pace - overtaking his boss' betrayal and pursuing the Eleanor as Pace tries to make his getaway. The infamous H.B.Halicki tries to mix his other two movies, Gone in 60 Seconds and The Junkman, together. It's better to watch them separately...
- DirectorPaul BartelStarsDavid CarradineBill McKinneyVeronica HamelRacing across the country from L.A. to New York, a plethora of exotic cars carry contestants hoping to win a very large sum.David Carradine leads the movie that helped started the Gumball/Cannonball genre (second to The Gumball Rally). A cheesy 70s exploitation yarn, it's not bad at all.
- DirectorJohn HoughStarsPeter FondaSusan GeorgeAdam RoarkeDown-on-their-luck racers Larry and Deke steal from a supermarket manager to buy a car that will help them advance their racing chances. Their escape does not go as planned when Larry's one-night stand, Mary, tags along for the ride.Avery interesting entry to the chase movies of the Seventies. Don't let the title fool you. This isn't 'Bonny & Clyde'.
- DirectorCharles B. GriffithStarsRon HowardChristopher NorrisBrad DavidDarlene's into going fast, Hoover's into Darlene, but when they both get into a red-hot race car, the reckless fun accelerates into a trunk-full of hot pursuits.Ron Howard starred in this as part of a deal to get his first directing gig. He plays a redneck teen who steals a stock car. Total chase movie with a tongue firmly in its cheek.
- DirectorRon HowardStarsRon HowardNancy MorganElizabeth RogersA rich girl steals her dad's Rolls Royce and heads off to Las Vegas to get married. However, her angry parents, a jealous suitor, and a bunch of reward seekers are determined to stop her.More focused on comedy than car chases, this is still a chase movie. But it still has plenty of that. A woman being the main driver in this makes for a nice change!
- DirectorSteven HahnStarsJoe ColliganCarmen ArgenzianoNoelle NorthSet on the subterranean Mine-World, a band of human worker are treated like slaves under the power of the evil overlord Zygon until one, Orin, unearths the hilt of a mythical sword that only he can master. Escaping the planet, he runs into the rogue smuggler Dagg and a pair of helpful droids and the princess, who all team up to return to the Mine-World with a plan to defeat Zygon and free Orin's enslaved people.Part of the wave of animated indie Space Sorcery movies of the eighties, Starchaser cannot hide its attempts at copying elements of Star Wars. But it's still fun and one of the genre's better attempts that I have seen.
- DirectorRalph BakshiStarsRandy NortonCynthia LeakeSteve SandorAt the end of the ice age, an evil queen and her son are set on conquering the world using magic and warriors. The lone survivor of a crushed village fights back as does the king of Fire Keep.Renegade animator Ralph Bakshi returns to the space sorcery genre, using none other than the genre godfather Frank Frazetta's designs. The story is stupid and the remain character is a bit of a wimp. But the lush design and the character Darkwolf save it for me.
- DirectorRidley ScottStarsSigourney WeaverTom SkerrittJohn HurtThe crew of a commercial spacecraft encounters a deadly lifeform after investigating a mysterious transmission of unknown origin. What's to say? It's a wall-to-wall classic, the benchmark of space horror for nearly 40 years.
- DirectorDuncan JonesStarsTravis FimmelPaula PattonBen FosterAs an Orc horde invades the planet Azeroth using a magic portal, a few human heroes and dissenting Orcs must attempt to stop the true evil behind this war.The guy from Vikings looks like he didn't want to be in this. He must have read the winding, stupid script.
- DirectorKate LoganStarsDavid WernsmanTai MathieuKate LoganA young evangelical filmmaker is granted unprecedented access inside a controversial Christian behavior modification program for troubled teens, where she discovers shocking secrets and young students that change her life.A sincere effort, but also a good example of how to make a mountain out of a molehill.
- DirectorJean-Marie PoiréStarsChristian ClavierJean RenoValérie LemercierA medieval knight and his servant ask a familiar wizard to move them back in time to prevent father-in-law's accidentally killing. Instead, they fly away to the 20th century.Vulgar French comedy, so if you like your crude jokes as thick as your innuendo, give it a bash.
- DirectorMartha CoolidgeStarsVal KilmerStacy PeraltaDaniel AdesAn uptight teenage prodigy enters a top engineering college, but feels awkward among the freewheeling students. When a professor aims to turn their laser project into a military weapon, he and his offbeat roommate plot to ruin the plan. This movie isn't actually even about Val Kilmer, but he rules it back when he was still in his prime.
- DirectorJoel SchumacherStarsMichael DouglasRobert DuvallBarbara HersheyAn ordinary man frustrated with the various flaws he sees in society begins to psychotically and violently lash out against them.A flop in its day, this cult classic can't help but wave its message in your face. But it does it well, plus you have to see the fast food rant.
- DirectorJon WattsStarsAndy PowersLaura AllenPeter StormareA loving father finds a clown suit for his son's birthday party, only to realize that it's cursed.A fresh horror with some original ideas. Not everyone's cup of tea, but certainly just weird enough to watch at least once. Also, clown suicides are funny.
- DirectorSacha BennettStarsIan OgilvyAlison DoodyDanny HatchardWhen retired East End villain Charlie Archer is murdered by a feral street gang, his brother Ritchie returns to London from Spain to investigate.I like a good vigilante or OG crime thriller as much as everyone. But the best thing about this is the title.
- DirectorLowell DeanStarsLeo FafardAmy MatysioSarah LindAs a series of strange and violent events begin to occur, an alcoholic policeman realizes that he has been turned into a werewolf as part of a larger plan.I think it was good. A deliberate low-budget b-movie with a lot of ambition. But maybe there's just too much going on.
- DirectorGerard JohnstoneStarsMorgana O'ReillyRima Te WiataGlen-Paul WaruA young woman is forced to return to her childhood home after being placed under house arrest, where she suspects that something evil may be lurking.Quirky horror comedy from New Zealand, land of quirky horror comedies. A very unexpected gem.
- DirectorPaul W.S. AndersonStarsLaurence FishburneSam NeillKathleen QuinlanA rescue crew is tasked with investigating the mysterious reappearance of a spaceship that had been lost for seven years. This film has outlived its critics. Sure, it's no Alien, but who said it needs to be?
- DirectorStan WinstonStarsLance HenriksenJeff EastJohn D'AquinoAfter a tragic accident, a man conjures up a towering, vengeful demon called Pumpkinhead to destroy a group of unsuspecting teenagers.Stan Winston could create great special effects. What he couldn't do was direct. How this boring mess has any fans is a mystery to me.
- DirectorMichael LehmannStarsWinona RyderChristian SlaterShannen DohertyAt Westerburg High where cliques rule, jocks dominate and all the popular girls are named Heather, it's going to take a Veronica and mysterious new kid to give teen angst a body count. Not a bad bit of 90s history and a solid entry in the thrill kill sub genre. Still, I can only stand so much teenage angst these days.
- DirectorStuart GordonStarsJeffrey CombsBruce AbbottBarbara CramptonAfter an odd new medical student arrives on campus, a dedicated local and his girlfriend become involved in bizarre experiments centering around the re-animation of dead tissue. What's more disturbing: a decapitation with a shovel or that the head continues to live and plot against our hero? This movie is an unrivaled titan of the horror world.
- DirectorH.B. HalickiStarsH.B. HalickiChristopher StoneSusan ShawJunkman and movie-maker Harlan Hollis struggles to stay alive when a jealous partner in his company hires goons to kill him. Full of amazing car chases, fantastic crashes, and edge-of-your-seat action. It's no Gone in 60 Seconds, but H.B. Halicki's second film still hits the right notes for a carsploitation movie (and is an unexpected swan song for the genre).
