Bit naff, effects were good but the plot was weak. No sense of danger or threat to it. Characters were under-developed so I didn't care who lived and died. A big drop in quality from the previous film, giving the books a bad name now. - DirectorDan TrachtenbergStarsJohn GoodmanMary Elizabeth WinsteadJohn Gallagher Jr.A young woman is held in an underground bunker by a man who insists that a hostile event has left the surface of the Earth uninhabitable.I was with: My parents

Really loved this. At first it was average but the action escalated, some loose ends were tied up from the older films and as always Fassbender did an amazing job with Magneto and his inner conflict. Also, Evan Peters as Quicksilver was a great addition! I usually hate comedy relief characters and think they bring down films that are supposed to be dark in nature but it was well-timed and he had a purpose other than this (meaning he was actually a useful and interesting character and wasn't just used to brighten things up). Good balance of characters too; although one thing I will say is that I didn't find Apocalypse/God himself very threatening. I still wanted the good ones to win of course, and he was destructive and everything, but really as far as villains go he seemed quite composed and I didn't hate him. Overall, pleasantly surprised! - DirectorScott DerricksonStarsBenedict CumberbatchChiwetel EjioforRachel McAdamsWhile on a journey of physical and spiritual healing, a brilliant neurosurgeon is drawn into the world of the mystic arts.I was with: My mum
Very good film, didn't have any issues with it. Comedic relief was well-timed and not excessive, action was good and of course the special effects were amazing. Interesting characters and plot too. - DirectorDavid YatesStarsEddie RedmayneKatherine WaterstonAlison SudolIn 1926, magizoologist Newt Scamander arrives in New York during his worldwide tour to research and rescue magical creatures as something mysterious leaves trails of destruction in the city, threatening to expose the wizarding world.I was with: My parents
Thought this was very good. Had that great HP magical feel to it but still stood on its own and was very enjoyable; even quite dark at times. Definitely worth the watch. - DirectorGareth EdwardsStarsFelicity JonesDiego LunaAlan TudykIn a time of conflict, a group of unlikely heroes band together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Empire's ultimate weapon of destruction.I was with: Ryan
This was OK, my only issues were the predictable and unimaginative scripting and how easily the rebels won. No sense of urgency or danger about it, knew they would 'win'. Boring. Probably didn't help that I was tired and in pain at the time - DirectorJ.A. BayonaStarsLewis MacDougallSigourney WeaverFelicity JonesConor, a twelve-year-old boy, encounters an ancient tree monster who proceeds to help him cope with his mother's terminal illness and being bullied in school.I was with: My mum
This was actually surprisingly good! Beautiful cinematography and art style when the three tales were told to the main character (if you've seen HP Deathly Hallows and the story about the three brothers, it's very similar to that). Actually dealt with some very heavy themes and didn't feel like a 'kids movie', I guess it explains the certificate of 12A. Brought me on the brink of tears at the end, hit quite hard. Overall, very enjoyable bit of escapism. If you loved Pan's Labyrinth, chances are you will like this. - DirectorM. Night ShyamalanStarsJames McAvoyAnya Taylor-JoyHaley Lu RichardsonThree girls are kidnapped by a man with a diagnosed 23 distinct personalities. They must try to escape before the apparent emergence of a frightful new 24th.I was with: My mum
This was actually such a great film. Went in sceptical because of M. Night Shylamadingdong's recent works but it was actually great - the performance of McAvoy and the main protagonist in particular really held it together. The main girl who was kidnapped reacted naturally and it was refreshing to see a reaction that was something other than panic and endless escape attempts. Flicking between McAvoy's therapy sessions and the basement was a great choice and was really intriguing, kept the immersion going. Only thing that took me out of it was people laughing at the personality of Kevin, which I didn't understand because it was supposed to be tense and disturbing (e.g the kiss scene). Anyway, overall a 9/10, both for my enjoyment and the film as a piece of art. In particular, loved the cinematographic style and the storytelling was great. - DirectorGreg McLeanStarsJohn Gallagher Jr.Tony GoldwynAdria ArjonaIn a twisted social experiment, eighty Americans are locked in their high-rise corporate office in Bogotá, Colombia, and ordered by an unknown voice coming from the company's intercom system to participate in a deadly game of kill or be killed.I was with: my parents
