- DirectorKevin MacdonaldStarsSimon YatesJoe SimpsonBrendan MackeyThe true story of two climbers and their perilous journey up the west face of Siula Grande in the Peruvian Andes in 1985.Very good movie about a true event, and yet another example of reality writing better stories than fantasy. You just can't make up a story like this and make it believeable. Somewhat slow a times, simply because it is needed to show what happened. The inclusion of the mountaineers themselves add to the credibility.
- DirectorBaltasar KormákurStarsJason ClarkeAng Phula SherpaThomas M. WrightOn May 10, 1996, mountain guides Rob Hall and Scott Fischer combine their expedition teams for a final ascent to the summit of Mount Everest. With little warning, a storm strikes the mountain and the climbers must now battle to survive.Amazing but partially confusing movie about a true story. The big number of involved persons makes it hard to follow, but I understand that this is what it was, and the number of persons was one of the reasons for the disaster.
- DirectorFranc RoddamStarsMichael BiehnMatt CravenAnnie GrindlayA U.S. climbing team, funded by millionaire Clairborne is determined to conquer K2.Beautiful mountaineering scenes, but a pretty weak script that misses at least two important opportunities where reality greatly outshines the fiction. To be precise, high altitude helicopter flying was a lot better in Everest, and rescuing a climber with a broken leg was vastly superior in Touching the void.
- DirectorClint EastwoodStarsClint EastwoodGeorge KennedyVonetta McGeeClassical art professor and collector Dr. Jonathan Hemlock, who doubles as a professional assassin, is coerced out of retirement to avenge the murder of an old friend.Great mountaineering scenes, but a really weak plot. With the mountaineering parts weaker than the true story movies, its biggest strength is the fact that Eastwood made his own stunts.
