The war then escalates and the Tokyo drifters decide to lay low at the beach. The first movie i have watched from Mr. Kitano, still my favorite movie, maybe it is nostalgia thing but this movie is fantastic, and i must mention fantastic soundtrack by legendary Jo Hisaishi
- DirectorTakeshi KitanoStarsClaude MakiHiroko ÔshimaSabu KawaharaThe lives of a young, hearing-impaired and gloomy couple are fulfilled after the boy holds interest in surfboarding.Very powerful and emotional movie, movie in which Takeshi Kitano didn't act just directed, and it is very different from his most known Yakuza styles movies, also we can hear beautiful soundtrack made by Jo Hisaishi.
- DirectorTakeshi KitanoStarsMiho KannoHidetoshi NishijimaTatsuya MihashiThree stories of never-ending love.I just enjoy his non-Yakuza movies, and this one is total work of art, like watching beautiful painting, there is not much dialog (Similliar to A Scene At The Sea), but atmosphere and pictures are what is made this movie to be interesting and work of art, also the movie is acompanied by beautiful soundtrack from Jo Hisaishi (sadly the last Kitano Movie for which Hisaishi done soundtrack).
- DirectorTakeshi KitanoStarsTakeshi KitanoYûrei YanagiYuriko IshidaTwo disquieted junior baseball players seek revenge on the local yakuza for attacking their coach. This movie is 100 % Kitano Style, it is not so much popular but i really enjoyed this one, after Sonatine, my favorite Kitano's movie with Yakuza theme, it is totally full of humour and stupid gags of main charachter.
- DirectorTakeshi KitanoStarsTakeshi KitanoTadanobu AsanoYui NatsukawaThe blind masseur/swordsman comes to a town in control of warring gangs, and while bunking with a farming family, he meets two women with their own agenda.Maybe his most commercial movie, but full of fun and Kitano's way of humour, and blind samurai with blonde hair oh yeah, just amazing, if you want want just watch it.
- DirectorTakeshi KitanoStarsTakeshi KitanoKotomi KyônoKayoko KishimotoBeat Takeshi, a prominent actor, meets a lookalike named Kitano, who is a struggling actor, but after the meeting, Kitano's dreams take a violent, surreal turn. This movie is total madness, it is just movie for hard loving Kitano fans, and i am one of them, my favorite from his artsy trilogy of movies
- DirectorTakeshi KitanoStarsTakeshi KitanoKippei ShînaRyô KaseThe boss of a major crime syndicate orders his lieutenant to bring a rogue gang of drug traffickers in line, a job that gets passed on to his long-suffering subordinate. After a break period of 10 years of not making Yakuza films, Takeshi is back to the style he is most known for, and it was great comeback, Takeshi is great in his role, other actors are also good in their roles, also Kitano's black humour is there, it is very violent movie and very funny at the same time.
- DirectorTakeshi KitanoStarsKen KanekoMasanobu AndôLeo MorimotoDropping out of high school, two friends at first find success, one as a up-and-coming boxer and one as a low level gangster. Yet, their life decisions still find a way of catching up with them.Really nice coming of age movie, Kitano can do every style and he will succeed.
- DirectorTakeshi KitanoStarsTakeshi KitanoKayoko KishimotoRen ÔsugiNishi leaves the police in the face of harrowing personal and professional difficulties. Spiraling into depression, he makes questionable decisions. The most known movie from Takeshi Kitano, the movie for which he got Golden Lion on Venice Film Festival in 1997, it is nice artistic movie, but not my favorite, i must watch it again sometimes.
- DirectorTakeshi KitanoStarsTakeshi KitanoYusuke SekiguchiKayoko KishimotoA young, naive boy sets out alone on the road to find his wayward mother. Soon he finds an unlikely protector in a crotchety man and the two have a series of unexpected adventures along the way.The most lightest movie of all he made in his carreer, this movie was the most popular movie from him in his homecountry, it is nice movie to watch if you want to see yourself again in good mood.
