Damien Chazelle directs Whiplash masterfully and passionately, showing his desire for perfection in filmmaking. Miles Teller and J.K. Simmons turn in a pair of absolutely fantastic performances, with Simmons being able to embody the monster of his character perfectly. Chazelle's script is realistic and also quite clever with its profanities (which for some reason I really enjoyed). This is a masterpiece of intense filmmaking.
