- DirectorDean DeBloisStarsJay BaruchelCate BlanchettGerard ButlerWhen Hiccup and Toothless discover an ice cave that is home to hundreds of new wild dragons and the mysterious Dragon Rider, the two friends find themselves at the center of a battle to protect the peace.A worthy sequel to the original thanks to its mature storytelling, great voice acting, amazing animation, and a great amount of heart put into it.
- DirectorLee UnkrichStarsTom HanksTim AllenJoan CusackThe toys are mistakenly delivered to a day-care center instead of the attic right before Andy leaves for college, and it's up to Woody to convince the other toys that they weren't abandoned and to return home.Go ahead and call it the most overrated Pixar film, but I just love that it came out at just the right time (those who grew up with the first two films were older at the time this came out). I also love how dark it can be, but not overshadowing the funnier and more heartwarming parts.
- DirectorGeorge MillerStarsTom HardyCharlize TheronNicholas HoultIn a post-apocalyptic wasteland, a woman rebels against a tyrannical ruler in search for her homeland with the aid of a group of female prisoners, a psychotic worshiper and a drifter named Max.Thanks to great performances from Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron, amazing action sequences, a bombastic soundtrack, and stunning visual effects that put other action movies to shame, Mad Max: Fury Road is an amazing comeback that helped redefine the series.
- DirectorDavid YatesStarsDaniel RadcliffeEmma WatsonRupert GrintHarry, Ron, and Hermione search for Voldemort's remaining Horcruxes in their effort to destroy the Dark Lord as the final battle rages on at Hogwarts.A great conclusion to an epic franchise that became a big part of childhood.
- DirectorAbdellatif KechicheStarsLéa SeydouxAdèle ExarchopoulosSalim KechioucheAdèle's life is changed when she meets Emma, a young woman with blue hair, who will allow her to discover desire and to assert herself as a woman and as an adult. In front of others, Adèle grows, seeks herself, loses herself, and ultimately finds herself through love and loss.It has easily become of my favorite love stories in recent years. The two leads delivered a great performance, while also telling the tale about coming-of-age and sexual awakening.
- DirectorPete DocterRonnie Del CarmenStarsAmy PoehlerBill HaderLewis BlackAfter young Riley is uprooted from her Midwest life and moved to San Francisco, her emotions - Joy, Fear, Anger, Disgust and Sadness - conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house, and school.
- DirectorSpike JonzeStarsJoaquin PhoenixAmy AdamsScarlett JohanssonIn a near future, a lonely writer develops an unlikely relationship with an operating system designed to meet his every need. Both charming and weird at the same time, Her is, as Doug Walker would describe it, "a perfect Rorschach test of romance". It speaks a lot about the evolution of technology and what it means to be human. It's great thanks to an excellent cast, cinematography, and creative setpieces that put in high on this spot.
- DirectorPhil LordChristopher MillerStarsChris PrattWill FerrellElizabeth BanksAn ordinary LEGO construction worker, thought to be the prophesied as "special", is recruited to join a quest to stop an evil tyrant from gluing the LEGO universe into eternal stasis.Man, did I underestimate this film. Creative all around with a lot of hilarious moments, loveable characters, and great stop-motion-esque animation, The Lego Movie is a fun ride for all ages.
- DirectorSam MendesStarsDaniel CraigJavier BardemNaomie HarrisJames Bond's loyalty to M is tested when her past comes back to haunt her. When MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost. One of the best Bond films in recent years.

- DirectorRich MooreStarsJohn C. ReillyJack McBrayerJane LynchA video game villain wants to be a hero and sets out to fulfill his dream, but his quest brings havoc to the whole arcade where he lives. Not only did this movie satisfy me as an animation buff, but also as a gamer. It had great characters, great video game references, a lot of imaginative set pieces, and a relatable story about being an outcast but learning to appreciate one's self. This should have won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature.
- DirectorMatthew VaughnStarsColin FirthTaron EgertonSamuel L. JacksonA spy organisation recruits a promising street kid into the agency's training program, while a global threat emerges from a twisted tech genius.Filled with good characters, amazing action, hilarious black comedy, and subverted spy tropes, Kingsman: The Secret Service is a delightfully entertaining movie throughout.

Things get more challenging when Pat meets Tiffany, a mysterious girl with problems of her own.
- DirectorStephen ChboskyStarsLogan LermanEmma WatsonEzra MillerCharlie, a 15-year-old introvert, enters high school and is nervous about his new life. When he befriends his seniors, he learns to cope with his friend's suicide and his tumultuous past.Hands down the biggest surprise for me. Never have I been able to connect with some great characters and also relate to Logan Lerman's character in some ways.
- DirectorMatthew VaughnStarsAaron Taylor-JohnsonNicolas CageChloë Grace MoretzDave Lizewski is an unnoticed high school student and comic book fan who one day decides to become a superhero, even though he has no powers, training or meaningful reason to do so.
- DirectorJennifer Yuh NelsonStarsJack BlackAngelina JolieJackie ChanPo and his friends fight to stop a peacock villain from conquering China with a deadly new weapon, but first the Dragon Warrior must come to terms with his past.A sequel that's not just as good as the original, but probably surpasses it.
- DirectorJosh BooneStarsShailene WoodleyAnsel ElgortNat WolffHazel and Gus are teenagers who meet at a cancer support group and fall in love. They both share the same acerbic wit and a love of books, especially "An Imperial Affliction", so they embark on a journey to visit an author in Amsterdam.I came in not having watched the trailers and only read what it was about, I was stunned from beginning to end thanks to the two leads having such great chemistry. The film also manages to balance out comedy and drama that you'll be laughing as well as possibly crying. It's more than just a generic teen love story; it's much more special.
- DirectorDamien ChazelleStarsMiles TellerJ.K. SimmonsMelissa BenoistA promising young drummer enrolls at a cut-throat music conservatory where his dreams of greatness are mentored by an instructor who will stop at nothing to realize a student's potential.Wow, this movie was insane. Miles Teller was excellent, but J.K. Simmons just nails it. Think of the latter as J. Jonah Jameson, but even more intimidating. He's like a time bomb just waiting to explode, and the various close-up shots between the two actors just add more tension. Also, the drumming is just sick. It is intense, but very inspirational.
- DirectorRichard CurtisStarsDomhnall GleesonRachel McAdamsBill NighyAt the age of 21, Tim discovers he can travel in time and change what happens and has happened in his own life. His decision to make his world a better place by getting a girlfriend turns out not to be as easy as you might think.

- DirectorRichard LinklaterStarsEllar ColtranePatricia ArquetteEthan HawkeThe life of Mason, from early childhood to his arrival at college.A milestone in filmmaking as it was shot over a period of 12 years using the same actors, and the direction really payed off. It's funny, emotional, relatable and a breathtaking experience from beginning to end, almost like seeing my own childhood growing during those three hours.
- DirectorTim BurtonStarsAmy AdamsChristoph WaltzDanny HustonA drama about the awakening of painter Margaret Keane, her phenomenal success in the 1950s, and the subsequent legal difficulties she had with her husband, who claimed credit for her works in the 1960s.Another one Tim Burton's finest thanks to its colorful visuals and great performances from Amy Adams and Christoph Waltz.
- DirectorAlejandro G. IñárrituStarsMichael KeatonZach GalifianakisEdward NortonA washed-up superhero actor attempts to revive his fading career by writing, directing, and starring in a Broadway production.Well-cast and well-performed, especially from Michael Keaton, playing a screen actor wanting to be relevant again. It also has really impressive camera work, looking like it was shot in one take (almost), and worthy of winning Best Cinematography at the Oscars.
- DirectorChad StahelskiStarsKeanu ReevesMichael NyqvistAlfie AllenAn ex-hitman comes out of retirement to track down the gangsters who killed his dog and stole his car.An impressive film with great action, amazing camera work, and perhaps Keanu Reeve's best performance ever.
- DirectorAnthony RussoJoe RussoStarsChris EvansSamuel L. JacksonScarlett JohanssonAs Steve Rogers struggles to embrace his role in the modern world, he teams up with a fellow Avenger and S.H.I.E.L.D agent, Black Widow, to battle a new threat from history: an assassin known as the Winter Soldier. An overall great sequel, with exciting action, nicely-written dialogue, and great performances from Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, and Samuel L. Jackson. The villains weren't that interesting, though, and it also has its predictable moments.
- DirectorBrad BirdStarsTom CruiseJeremy RennerSimon PeggThe IMF is shut down when it's implicated in the bombing of the Kremlin, causing Ethan Hunt and his new team to go rogue to clear their organization's name.
- DirectorLars von TrierStarsKirsten DunstCharlotte GainsbourgKiefer SutherlandTwo sisters find their already strained relationship challenged as a mysterious new planet threatens to collide with Earth.
- DirectorWoody AllenStarsOwen WilsonRachel McAdamsKathy BatesWhile on a trip to Paris with his fiancée's family, a nostalgic screenwriter finds himself mysteriously going back to the 1920s every day at midnight.I'm not too big on Woody Allen's movies, but I thought Midnight in Paris was a nicely thought-out and original film, which deserved the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay. Keep it up, Woody Allen.
- DirectorChris ButlerSam FellStarsKodi Smit-McPheeAnna KendrickChristopher Mintz-PlasseA misunderstood boy takes on ghosts, zombies and grown-ups to save his town from a centuries-old curse.ParaNorman is a funny and intelligent film, accompanied with some great stop-motion animation and memorable characters.
- DirectorJoss WhedonStarsRobert Downey Jr.Chris EvansScarlett JohanssonEarth's mightiest heroes must come together and learn to fight as a team if they are going to stop the mischievous Loki and his alien army from enslaving humanity. At first, I wasn't as impressed as everyone else, but after another viewing, it grew on me. The interactions between the Avengers are great and full of character growth. It also offers an exciting finale that tests the teamwork between all the members.
- DirectorDon HallChris WilliamsStarsRyan PotterScott AdsitJamie ChungA special bond develops between plus-sized inflatable robot Baymax and prodigy Hiro Hamada, who together team up with a group of friends to form a band of high-tech heroes.A fun superhero flick and another worthy entry in the Disney Animated canon, filled with lovable characters, amazing visuals, and the charming friendship between Hiro and Baymax. My only downside with the film is that the side characters didn't leave much of an impact. Maybe if they got a little more screentime, they would, but that's just me.
- DirectorAng LeeStarsSuraj SharmaIrrfan KhanAdil HussainA young man who survives a disaster at sea is hurtled into an epic journey of adventure and discovery. While cast away, he forms an unexpected connection with another survivor: a fearsome Bengal tiger.
- DirectorEdgar WrightStarsSimon PeggNick FrostMartin FreemanFive friends who reunite in an attempt to top their epic pub crawl from twenty years earlier unwittingly become humanity's only hope for survival. An excellent and hilarious installment in Edgar Wright's Three Flavors Cornetto Trilogy.
- DirectorNathan GrenoByron HowardStarsMandy MooreZachary LeviDonna MurphyThe magically long-haired Rapunzel has spent her entire life in a tower, but now that a runaway thief has stumbled upon her, she is about to discover the world for the first time, and who she really is.A nice interpretation of the Rapunzel tale with some good characters, well-timed comedy, and stunning visuals (it looks like a painting every time I pause it).
- DirectorJames GunnStarsChris PrattVin DieselBradley CooperA group of intergalactic criminals must pull together to stop a fanatical warrior with plans to purge the universe. With a nice cast of likeable characters, hilarious comedy, great action sequences, and an amazing selection of 70s music, Guardians of the Galaxy is a great addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
- DirectorFrancis LawrenceStarsJennifer LawrenceJosh HutchersonLiam HemsworthKatniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark become targets of the Capitol after their victory in the 74th Hunger Games sparks a rebellion in the Districts of Panem. An excellent and better follow-up to the original, further exploring its themes and having its share of interesting characters. Also, no shaky cam, yay!
- DirectorChristopher NolanStarsLeonardo DiCaprioJoseph Gordon-LevittElliot PageA thief who steals corporate secrets through the use of dream-sharing technology is given the inverse task of planting an idea into the mind of a C.E.O., but his tragic past may doom the project and his team to disaster. While I do think the dream concept has been explored dozens of times, this one's cleverly done with a decent cast, great music, and amazing visual effects. Easily one of Christopher Nolan's best.
- DirectorHayao MiyazakiStarsHideaki AnnoHidetoshi NishijimaMiori TakimotoJiro Horikoshi studies assiduously to fulfill his aim of becoming an aeronautical engineer. As WWII begins, fighter aircraft designed by him end up getting used by the Japanese Empire against its foes.
- DirectorDoug LimanStarsTom CruiseEmily BluntBill PaxtonA soldier fighting aliens gets to relive the same day over and over again, the day restarting every time he dies.
- DirectorEdgar WrightStarsMichael CeraMary Elizabeth WinsteadKieran CulkinIn a magically realistic version of Toronto, a young man must defeat his new girlfriend's seven evil exes one by one in order to win her heart.Since it's an adaptation of all six graphic novels, it does suffer from poor pacing and underdeveloped characters, but it's an overall decent adaptation that captures the spirit of the graphic novels.
