Atrocious adaptations
These are terrible adaptations, and it is needless to compare them to the source material to see how bad these adaptations are. Okay, some are just mediocre, but even they are too poorly executed to hold a candle to the source material.

- DirectorDiane Paloma EskenaziThe classic tale of a loveable, outcast hunchback and the gypsy girl he adores is transformed into a musical, warmhearted animated classic in this delightfully updated version of a stirring masterpiece. Produced by Golden Film. Directed by Diane Eskenazi. Endorsed by the Dove Foundation and Kids First for Quality Family Programming.Animation with many flaws, shallow storyline, lack of conflict, offensive moral, zero sympathy and unbearable or forgettable characters. The worst Golden Films work.
- DirectorRoberto BenigniStarsRoberto BenigniNicoletta BraschiCarlo GiuffrèDespite guidance from the Blue Fairy and the love of his father, a wooden puppet's curious spirit leads him into one wild adventure after another.Much better than most of the media in this list, but Roberto Benigni killed the drama of the book, leaving a terrible result. Still his version is better than Video Brinquedo and Phoenix Games.
- DirectorMike JoensKen C. JohnsonBased on Victor Hugo's classic novel, "The Hunchback of Notre Dame," this action-packed animated comedy is a heartwarming story of adventure and romance that will entertain the whole family.Much better than Golden Films', but this film is bad. 0% subtlety, inconsistent plot and a terrible ending.
- DirectorDiane Paloma EskenaziAnimated version of Edgar Rice Burroughs' classic story about a spirited young man raised by the animals in the jungle who makes his first contact with other humans when a young woman named Jane arrives in the jungle years later.More lackluster than lousy, but it fails to make you interested. At least this doesn't disrespect the source material as their version of The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
- DirectorBill BoyceJohn StronachStarsBen KingsleyChristian SlaterElliott GouldIn this animated adaptation of the Bible story Moses hears the voice of God from a burning bush, which inspires him to confront Egypt's pharaoh and demand freedom for the Israelite slaves. The pharaoh agrees after a series of horrific plagues, and Moses leads the Israelites through the parted Red Sea into the harsh freedom of the desert. There he ascends Mount Sinai and returns with the Ten Commandments. The designs are just... atrocious. And the writing is not much better. The incidental music is the only good thing about this pretentious film.
- DirectorGeoff CollinsWarwick GilbertStarsRobert HelpmannChris HaywoodPhillip HintonDon Quixote is a middle-aged gentleman from the region of La Mancha in central Spain. Obsessed with the chivalrous ideals touted in books he has read, he decides to take up his lance and sword to defend the helpless and destroy the wicked.Very shallow and all over the place, with little that could be said in its favour.
- DirectorToshiyuki HirumaTakashi MasunagaStarsTony AilNathan AswellBailee ReidA young girl follows a curious white rabbit into a world where everything is nonsense and everyone is mad.Not that awful, but very lacking in storytelling, animation and characterization. That and the confusion between the Queen of Hearts and the Red Queen.
- DirectorReinhard KloossStarsKellan LutzSpencer LockeLes BubbTarzan and Jane Porter face a mercenary army dispatched by the evil CEO of Greystoke Energies, a man who took over the company from Tarzan's parents, after they died in a helicopter crash.Even worse than Golden Films' version. This has no real plot or tone and the big changes were for the worse. Not helped by its Captain Obvious narrator.
- DirectorCraig S. CunninghamStarsVenus MoniqueCabil GibbsJordan JonesBased on the first book of the Bible, Genesis is a sweeping and poetic look at the beginning of man's relationship with God. While Jochebed (Venus Monique) hides in a shelter to protect her son from being murdered, she tells him the story of her people over the course of a dangerous night. This film explores the idea that mankind will one day return to the place where we started, but that the journey will be filled with hardship, beauty, and a desperate need to trust the Creator.Tried too hard to be artistic and it backfired.
- DirectorMarco AlemarFrancisco FreitasStarsIvete JaimeJosé SoaresFrancisco FreitasThis modern Brazilian animations tells the story of Pinocchio, a wooden doll who wants to become a human. To fulfill his dream, he gets into many adventures. His nose will grow every time he lies.At least Roberto Benigni was respectful to the book and genuinely tried to do a decent adaptation, which is much more than what can be said of this film. You know a film is bad when "The Little Mermaid" is shoehorned on this movie.
