- DirectorJames GunnStarsChris PrattVin DieselBradley CooperA group of intergalactic criminals must pull together to stop a fanatical warrior with plans to purge the universe.I guess I have to give in to the hype this time, WHICH this movie succeeded in exceeding by miles. Guardians of the Galaxy has about everything I like in movies, from the 70s music, to the space action, to the quotability. It's my personal favorite comic-book movie of all time, even surpassing Iron Man (2008). Took 6 years, but finally someone at Marvel gave me a new favorite.
- DirectorBryan SingerStarsPatrick StewartIan McKellenHugh JackmanThe X-Men send Wolverine to the past in a desperate effort to change history and prevent an event that results in doom for both humans and mutants. The best X-Men movie ever made. Shining performances, incredible visuals, exciting action, outstanding drama. And it all builds up to a beautiful end. I couldn't have asked for more from Bryan Singer.
- DirectorAnthony RussoJoe RussoStarsChris EvansSamuel L. JacksonScarlett JohanssonAs Steve Rogers struggles to embrace his role in the modern world, he teams up with a fellow Avenger and S.H.I.E.L.D agent, Black Widow, to battle a new threat from history: an assassin known as the Winter Soldier.A downright solid conspiracy thriller. Chris Evans is getting much better at his role as Steve Rogers. This is also one of the first superhero sequels since The Dark Knight to actually get it right.
- DirectorMarc WebbStarsAndrew GarfieldEmma StoneJamie FoxxWhen New York is put under siege by Oscorp, it is up to Spider-Man to save the city he swore to protect as well as his loved ones.Meh. This one actually tries too hard to be The Dark Knight. You'll see the parallels straight away. The action is frantic and very well done, and the lead pair is outstanding, but like Spider-Man 3, there are way too many villains, way too much for Spider-Man to do, and it becomes too loud for its own good. It's OK.
