- DirectorDamien ChazelleStarsBrad PittMargot RobbieJean SmartA tale of outsized ambition and outrageous excess, it traces the rise and fall of multiple characters during an era of unbridled decadence and depravity in early Hollywood.I can't believe this is my number 1 of the year - with the bad reviews, I thought I would hate this movie, but I ended up absolutely loving it. The history of 1920s Hollywood in the transition from silent films to talkies really interested me, and the many stories the movie decides to tell kept me engaged. There's a lot going on here, but it was so interesting, and the acting was so good, that I couldn't keep my eyes off the screen. LOVED IT!
Number 1 of the year - my favorite movie of 2022. - DirectorLuca GuadagninoStarsTimothée ChalametTaylor RussellMark RylanceA young woman embarks on a 1000 mile odyssey through America where she meets a disenfranchised drifter. But all roads lead back to their terrifying pasts and to a final stand that will determine whether love can survive their otherness."Bones and All" surprised me - I went in thinking I'd hate it and be bored, but I came out absolutely falling in love with it. Yes, this is a movie about cannibals, but it's one that has a great emotional hook, and a fantastic indie/coming of age feel to it that I really resonate with. This is just a great movie, and even with the morbid subject matter, I'd recommend this to anyone.

The music and songs are great, and the story really resonated with me - what can I say, I'm a sucker for romance. I also found the emotion very resonant, and I just loved this movie.
Number 3 of the year. - DirectorJanus MetzStarsGoksin ErdemliKasia MaderaChris PineVeteran CIA agent Henry is reunited in Vienna with his former colleague and lover Celia. What an incredible movie - I've never seen a movie so intense that had little to no action in it. This movie is straight up dialogue, which is great, because the dialogue and acting is top notch. Chris Pine is great here, giving a performance that was magnetic and intense. I just really liked this movie, much more than I thought I would, and more than a majority of the movie's that I've seen in 2022.
Number 4 of the year. - DirectorTarik SalehStarsChris PineGillian JacobsSander ThomasA discharged U.S. Special Forces sergeant, James Harper, risks everything for his family when he joins a private contracting organization. This is not that good of a movie, but I really loved it. I love Chris Pine, and he was great here, and I just thought the story, while predictable, was really interesting and watchable. There's a lot of emotion here, and the plot is just so good and intriguing. The action isn't great, but it doesn't need to be since the acting and story is so good. I know this won't be a popular choice, but I just really liked this.
Number 5 of the year. - DirectorJoseph KosinskiStarsTom CruiseJennifer ConnellyMiles TellerAfter thirty years, Maverick is still pushing the envelope as a top naval aviator, but must confront ghosts of his past when he leads TOP GUN's elite graduates on a mission that demands the ultimate sacrifice from those chosen to fly it.This is just a great movie.
