The acting is bad in English, and even worse in Norwegian. Very fun, though! Hallmark has struck gold here in Norway with this so-bad-it's-good gem which has been the talk of every Christmas party I've been to this season. 3/10 - DirectorHayao MiyazakiStarsSoma SantokiMasaki SudaKô ShibasakiIn the wake of his mother's death and his father's remarriage, a headstrong boy named Mahito ventures into a dreamlike world shared by both the living and the dead.27.01. Klingenberg kino, Sal 2. First time.
While it lacks the endearing protagonists of Myazaki's earlier works, and also the natural flow and evolution of those stories, the magic and wonder brought me back to the fairytales and fantasy books of my childhood, and I really enjoyed that experience. And it was really refreshing to have no idea what was going to happen next! 7/10 - DirectorRichard CurtisStarsHugh GrantMartine McCutcheonLiam NeesonFollows the lives of eight very different couples in dealing with their love lives in various loosely interrelated tales all set during a frantic month before Christmas in London, England.26.12. - DirectorBradley CooperStarsCarey MulliganBradley CooperMatt BomerThis love story chronicles the lifelong relationship of conductor-composer Leonard Bernstein and actress Felicia Montealegre Cohn Bernstein.09.12. Vega Scene, Sal 1. First time.
Now this is a film! The first two thirds of the film were incredibly cinematic in a way that you rarely ever see these days, even in the really good films. I really loved the cinematography and the acting. It loses some steam in the end, but with the turn the story takes, I suppose that's natural. It felt true to life, and how it (probably often) just ebbs out. 8.5/10 - DirectorDavid YatesStarsEddie RedmayneJude LawEzra MillerAlbus Dumbledore knows that Gellert Grindelwald is moving to take control of the wizarding world. Unable to stop him alone, he asks Newt Scamander to lead an intrepid team on a dangerous mission.08.12. HBO Max on TV. First time.
Not as offensively in-your-face-bad as the second film, because my expectations were set for zero, but it's still a bunch of insignificant nonsense. Dan Fogler remains the stand out star of the franchise, and the visual effects were very well executed, but the story is nothing and I just don't care. Good to finally have watched it so I can put it out of my mind forever. 4/10 - DirectorMagnus MartensStarsMartin StarrAmrita AchariaKiran ShahAn American family fulfills their dream of moving back after inheriting a remote cabin in the mountains of Norway.08.12. Colosseum kino, Sal 1. First time.
A lot of funny inside jokes for Norwegians, but it kind of falls between two chairs as it's almost kids movie and almost a horror movie. I think it would have been better as just one of these things, and I think the premise of an American family learning about their barn elf is probably better suited for a straight up family movie. 5/10 - DirectorDavid YatesStarsDaniel RadcliffeEmma WatsonRupert GrintAs Harry, Ron and Hermione race against time and evil to destroy the Horcruxes, they uncover the existence of the three most powerful objects in the wizarding world: the Deathly Hallows.08.12. - DirectorSolveig MelkeraaenFor the 4000 inhabitants of the town of Myre, Christmas without a hunt of Santa Claus means no Christmas at all. A bunch of men manage to turn the village upside down on the 23rd of December, but there's a lot of elfs diverting the hunt.03.12. NRK on TV. First time.
Fun film with a good heart. 6/10 - DirectorDavid YatesStarsEddie RedmayneKatherine WaterstonAlison SudolIn 1926, magizoologist Newt Scamander arrives in New York during his worldwide tour to research and rescue magical creatures as something mysterious leaves trails of destruction in the city, threatening to expose the wizarding world.01.12.
