As you can probably tell by some of the reviews I have here on Nerdly, I am a fan of classic pornography. Between the early 70′s and mid 80′s, there were many classics not just being churned out, but being released with as much care and attention as some of the biggest “legitimate” films of the era. Performers who could genuinely act, directors with actual artistic vision, script writers and talented individuals behind the scenes. These were actual films. Fast forward to today and although there is still some genuine talent, one can’t help but feel that the industry has lost some of its artistry and craftsmanship. Instead of performers who can deliver lines, we now have a pretty face with a shelf life...

Married couple Claire (Stefanie Estes) and her husband Aaron (Zack Ward) have left everything behind them and decided to move in to Claire’s childhood home. Things are looking great for the couple when Aaron finds much more lucrative work than he’s ever had before, but things start to take a turn for worse when Claire’s past – more specifically memories of her abusive and foreboding mother coming back to haunt her. This triggers Claire to start experiencing visions and hallucinations. From seeing shapes in the dark, to her body seemingly being mutilated before her very eyes. Could she be going over the deep end or is there something sinister happening in her childhood home? Whatever may be happening,...

When it was all said and done, Josh Hasty emerged from Murderworld with over 500 hours of footage documenting the making of Rob Zombie's new movie, 31. Titled In Hell Everybody Loves Popcorn: The Making of 31, Hasty's immersive documentary is now available to view as both a two-hour bonus feature on Lionsgate's Blu-ray / DVD release of 31 and as a four-hour version on VOD, and we caught up with the filmmaker for our latest Q&A feature to discuss what it was like being a fly on the wall with a camera to capture Zombie's new cinematic creation.
Thanks for taking the time to answer some questions for us, Josh. How did you initially get involved with Rob Zombie’s 31?
Josh Hasty: My pleasure. I originally met Rob during production of The Lords of Salem. It was the first time I'd seen him directing in person and I was really...

As someone who grew up haunting video stores throughout the late 80s and well into the 90s, director Rick Sloane was something of an icon. You see I was one of those teenagers who loved to rent any and all T&A comedies I could lay my hands on, and Sloane was the man behind Vice Academy and its six, yes six(!) sequels. Why Vice Academy? Well my other love at the time was horror movies, and in particular those featuring scream queens such as Linnea Quigley, Michelle Bauer, Brinke Stevens and Monique Gabrielle… and Vice Academy – and its immediate sequel – starred the one and only Ms. Quigley – it was, at least for me at the time, kismet: Linnea Quigley and T&A comedy? It’s apt that the horror genre is only a step up from pornography in the minds of critics, because whenever a porn star attempts to carve out a “mainstream” career, they usually end up in horror pictures.
You could explain that in several ways. You could side with the critics and say it’s because both genres wallow in the same gutter, and seguing from one exploitation movie to another isn’t really much of an achievement. Or you could say that it’s because horror is the most liberal genre, and therefore the most welcoming to performers who would elsewhere be held up to ridicule.
Each view has something going for it, depending on the movie you’re talking about. The nicest thing that can be said about Evil Breed: The Legend Of Samhain (2003), which features Ginger Lynn, Chasey Lain and Jenna Jameson, is that the girls all look good.

With Rob Zombie's upcoming film 31 taking place in a setting known as "Murder World", you can expect to find plenty of malevolent monsters (of the human variety) around every corner, as evidenced in the latest still from the film, which shows someone who looks like they came from Dr. Frankenstein's lab.
Revealed by Bloody Disgusting, the new still from Rob Zombie's 31 features a very memorable member of the Murder World proceedings. According to his co-star Jon Cryer, Charlie Sheen comported himself like a professional when he came on set during the first few seasons of Two and a Half Men: He was on time and always hit his marks despite partying all night. That feeling of respect would quickly deteriorate. In his memoir, So That Happened, published April 7, Cryer watches as Sheen eventually devolved into the publicly disgraced menace we know him as. The book isn't a damning account, by any means (especially considering what Sheen has actually done), but Cryer relays some strange anecdotes ranging from the slightly endearing (Sheen was nervous at table-reads) to the more disturbing (he was watching Mary Poppins on Broadway the night he locked a naked escort in the closet at the Plaza Hotel). Here are the weirdest and Charlie Sheen–iest moments from Jon Cryer's book:1. Cryer got to meet porn star Ginger Lynn because of Sheen.

In a land overrun by ruthless creatures that hunt by sound, even the faintest whimper can lead to your death in Tim Lebbon's The Silence, a new horror novel hitting shelves later this month. Legendary adult film star Ginger Lynn Allen has wrapped filming her role in the upcoming horror movie House of Many Sorrows, which was shot just outside of the small town of Killam, Alberta, and tells the story of a young man who takes over his mother’s bed and breakfast establishment. Strange things soon begin happening, and people begin disappearing and dying.
Allen plays the role of Jocelyn Mathers, a larger than life bad girl, in the movie. Says Allen:
I was very excited to land this role, and working with director Barry J. Gillis has been a pleasure. I found this role to be very, very fulfilling [as] Barry let me incorporate a few of my own ideas into the role, and that was really satisfying.
House of Many Sorrows is written, produced and directed by Barry J. Gillis. It also stars Tom Malloy (The Alphabet Killer, The Attic) and Kim Sonderholm (The Horror Vault,...

Hello, and welcome to The Best Of Number Two here at The Liberal Dead. We haven’t done any kind of theme for a long time, so I thought I would reach out to some some talented people from other sites, and see if we can put something together. I decided it would be a theme about the best second films in a franchise/series. Expect discussion about Metamorhosis: The Alien Factor, The Devil’s Rejects, C.H.U.D. II, Blade II, Sleepaway Camp II, Amityville 2, Island of the Fishmen, The Dark Knight, Final Destination 2, House II and more.
Rob Zombie is a polarizing filmmaker, to say the least. Love him or hate him, you cannot deny is his ambition. The longtime musician made his feature directorial debut with House of 1000 Corpses. Although filmed in 2000, the movie didn’t hit theaters until 2003. Corpses fell victim to many issues that first-time directors face,...

Well that was an improvement, at least! When we last left True Blood, Sookie was hosting a psychic reading of Our Town where all the dialog has been replaced with “vamp slut danger whore.” We pick up where we left off, but from a very different vantage point. Let’s dig in!
Things kick off with Eric (Alexander Skarsgard) strolling into a flowery hacienda, where he unbuttons his shirt and fixes a cocktail. Atta vamp! For some reason Jason (Ryan Kwanten) appears, saying that he has been looking for him. Okay, this is clearly a dream sequence. Eric shakes a martini (shirt still open), which Jason chugs before saying that while he digs Violet, “I can’t get you outta my head.” Na-na-na, na-na-na-nice Kylie reference from the Aussie! Two points.
Jason takes Eric’s belt off – oh my! – and Eric pins him to a chair. But soon Jason and...

James Deen
The Los Angeles-born actor gained porn prominence for his boy next door looks and prolific output.
