In a recent episode of the Still Here Hollywood Podcast with Steve Kmetko, John Ritter’s widow, Amy Yasbeck, talked about how she orchestrated a reunion between her husband and Suzanne Somers after a long falling-out period.
The two starred opposite in the hit sitcom Three’s Company. Somers exited the show in season 5 in a salary dispute with producers.
“I didn’t do it in a sneaky way,” Yasbeck, 61, recalled to Kmetko of the reunion. “We were at the premiere of Victor/Victoria on Broadway [in 1995], and at the intermission, I went to the ladies room and all of a sudden, Suzanne is standing there next to me.”
She introduced herself, and Somers told her that she would be singing at the after-party.
At the after-party, Somers performed Can’t Dance, Don’t Ask Me, and Ritter went to her.

The 1986 horror comedy House, directed by Steve Miner from a screenplay by Ethan Wiley (based on a story by Fred Dekker), has a solid cult following to this day. The 1987 standalone sequel House II: The Second Story (watch it Here), which was written and directed by Wiley (again from a story by Dekker), has a less positive reputation than its predecessor. But there are fans out there who enjoy House II even more than the first House – and I happen to be one of those fans. So I’m very happy to see that JoBlo’s own Lance Vlcek has decided to celebrate House II: The Second Story, which has been a favorite of mine since childhood, with a new video that digs into The Best Scene in the movie! You can check it out in the embed above.

John Ritter was perhaps most recognized for his role in the ABC sitcom, Three’s Company. But his career spanned almost 40 years of versatile, heart-filled roles. Ritter was born in Burbank, CA on Sept. 17, 1948 to singing cowboy star father Tex Ritter and actress mother Dorothy Fay. From a young age, it was clear that John would be following in his parents’ footsteps.
He is most recognized for his role as Jack Tripper in Three’s Company, for which he received a Primetime Emmy Award and a Golden Globe. But he had a lengthy and varied career that included roles in such projects as Sling Blade, Problem Child, Bad Santa, and 8 Simple Rules.

Cheers is streaming in its entirety on Peacock and Paramount+, and a few seasons are still on Hulu. 11 seasons gives you 273 total episodes to watch, but let’s say you’ve already watched them all. At under 30 minutes each, it would only take you 136 hours, so less than a week if you don’t sleep. Anyway, here are five other shows you might like if you also like Cheers.

And so when I read the script, I did speak to the producers, and they were very incredibly helpful in floating the possibility of tying it into the show. In 1990, the late and great Gilbert Gottfried got his breakout role. It was in a film called "Problem Child," which Universal Pictures later claimed was their most profitable film of the year — and Gottfried's performance certainly helped on that front, despite the studio not exactly seeing it during principal photography.
The film follows Amy Yasbeck and John Ritter as a married couple dealing with the trials and tribulations of adoption, with Gottfried lending his talents to the role of adoption agent. Director David Dugan actually revealed that he got in trouble with the studio for letting Gottfried improvise...

[Editor's Note: A version of this retrospective originally appeared in the September 2014 issue of Deadly Magazine.] With House II: The Second Story, the vastly underrated sequel written and directed by Ethan Wiley (who also wrote the screenplay for the original House), New World Pictures introduced audiences to a whole new world filled with unexpected frights and adventures with an Old West twist. The sequel was released in late August of 1987 and took a decidedly left turn away from the more straightforward house of horrors style seen in Steve Miner’s original film, instead favoring a tone that was much more light-hearted, fun-spirited, and far more family friendly.
For the uninitiated, House II follows a young man named Jesse (Arye Gross), who inherits a strange house from the parents who gave him up for adoption when he was just an infant. As he begins to settle into his new dwelling with the help of his girlfriend, Kate (Lar Park Lincoln), his best pal, Charlie (Jonathan Stark), and Charlie’s aspiring musician girlfriend,...

Growing up, I was a big fan of both House and House II: The Second Story, so as you can imagine, Arrow Video’s recent House: Two Stories Blu-ray collection was right up my proverbial alley. Both films look better here than they did on DVD (which is how I’ve been viewing them for years now), the new retrospective featurettes do a great job of diving deep into both movies, and the other supplemental materials included are a welcome blast from the past. For fans who are on the fence about adding House: Two Stories to your home media collections, I can emphatically say this set is well worth the investment.
In House (1986), we meet famed writer Roger Cobb (William Katt), a Vietnam vet with a slumping career and a marriage that has hit the skids after his son disappeared while visiting Roger’s aunt Elizabeth in her gothic abode one fateful day.

There's straight-to-video shame, then there's straight to TV shame. The following small screen follow-ups, then, are the most shameful of the lot.
Please note, however: all of the following first aired on the small screen. They may have ended up on DVD later, but they're telly specials through and through...

The fifth, however, is the biggest stinker of the lot, a schmaltzy Christmas edition with a new kid, new family and new goons. Also, Malcolm McDowell - of Clockwork Orange fame - is in it,...

It seems Problem Child has been adopted from the orphanage once more as NBC are reportedly in talks to bring back the 90s family comedy to the small screen.

One of AOL's biggest series is bringing back its big cars in a big way. Little Women, Big Cars, which follows four soccer moms as they navigate their suburban lives, has returned for a second season on the site's AOL On video portal. The four titular little women are played by actresses Amy Yasbeck, Julie Warner, Kristy Swanson, and Anita Barone, and each one must navigate her own network of current husbands, ex-husbands, boyfriends, daughters, soccer practices, minivans, and all the other elements that compose the lifestyle of your average stay-at-home soccer mom. All nineteen episodes have been released via AOL On Parenting, where they can be viewed in a single, two hour long binge. The first season of Little Women, Big Cars was an instant hit for AOL. Its seventeen installments also saw simultaneous release to the tune of more than 2 million views in just 11 days.

This year Funny or Die pranked us with an April Fools joke that would get any lover of the 90s excited followed by immediate letdown. Creating the faux site Kickstart of Die for our favorite dated 90s shows like "Wings," "Sliders," "Dinosaurs," "Family Matters," and "Darkwing Duck," Funny or Die gave us an enjoyable dose of nostalgia while also supporting real charities. On each of the show's fake Kickstarter pages the original casts come together in videos asking for help in turning their memorable shows into movies since, if "Veronica Mars" could do it, why not? In the "Wings" video the casts tell us that the film "Wings: Serenity" has already been partially shot, but still needs $60 million more to finish. But before you pledge your dollars just yet make sure to watch the exclusive clip from the unfinished film in which Steven Weber and Amy Yasbeck try to save...

Today is author Bram Stoker’s birthday. The man who wrote Dracula would be 165 years old today, if he had the same affliction he gave his most famous character. In honor of Stoker’s birthday, we’ve found some of the best spoofs, parodies, and satires on Dracula. Because dammit, birthdays should be fun!

Count Duckula - Opening Theme [HQ]
A favorite cartoon of mine growing up, Count Duckula was a duck version of Dracula. Every now and again, he would die, but could be resurrected once a century. The most recent resurrection didn’t go according to plan. Instead of blood, ketchup was used. Thus, this incarnation of Duckula was a vegetarian who was more interested in becoming a star than in starting blood wards.

After Michael Eisner made his pitch to online video advertisers at the AOL Digital Content NewFront in New York City, the newly promoted CEO of his multi-platform independent studio Vuguru took the stage. Larry Tanz addressed the audience of advertisers, brand representatives, and reporters before showing off a pair of online originals he noted would soon debut on On AOL, the internet portal’s shiny new video destination. One of those originals was Little Women Big Cars, a Vuguru original series directed by Melanie Mayron, created by Sherry Coben (Kate & Allie), and starring an ensemble cast headlined by Amy Yasbeck (Wings, Hot in Cleveland), Kristy Swanson (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Psych), Romy Rosemont (Glee), Julie Warner (Crash, Nip/Tuck), Ed Begley Jr. (Portlandia, The New Adventures of Old Christine) and Antonio Sabato Jr. (Melrose Place, The Bold and the Beautiful). The National Enquirer — also known “the Marc Summers of journalism” – has this thing they do where they postulate who is and who isn’t gay??? Very cool way to talk about people, National Enquirer. A look at past covers proves that the wide array of “stars” whose sexualities are questioned is either fairly obvious (Anderson Cooper, Queen Latifah), puzzling (Susan Boyle and Prince Charles, both of whom are Just From Europe, Guys), and f’ing bonkers (Vanna White, Dustin Hoffman, and “John Ritter’s widow, Amy Yasbeck”). To be honest, it would be awesome to live in a world where a Pride Parade was lead by — Lolol — Vanna White and Amy Yasbeck. Who? What? Is this real life, National Enquirer??? Well, yes, apparently it is, considering the issue’s newest cover features Wynonna Judd dressed like a leather daddy and the kid from Who’s The Boss wearing a lady...

Yasbeck's answer was three, which seemed to surprise the crowd.
Sara Gilbert made the point that milk is milk; you're either feeding the kid human milk or cow milk. "But you know what?" Yasbeck said, "I think 'no' on the Rice Krispies."
Apparently, Peete and Yasbeck have had breast-milk related episodes before. Yasbeck talked about the pair working on a show when Peete was nursing, and Peete putting a bottle of breast milk in the refrigerator. As a joke, Yasbeck came out on the set drinking milk from an identical bottle.

Actress Amy Yasbeck fought back tears during an emotional U.S. TV interview on Tuesday, as she relived the heartbreak of losing her husband, actor John Ritter, in 2003.
The beloved Three's Company star was 54 when he died from an undiagnosed aortic dissection on 11 September, 2003 - the same day as their daughter Stella's fifth birthday.
Yasbeck relives the memories the family shared in new memoir With Love and Laughter, John Ritter - the book she was promoting on pals Whoopi Goldberg and Barbara Walters' U.S. chat show The View on Tuesday when she started sobbing.
Speaking to Walters, she said, "I don't even have to say anything, I cry just looking at you... I know that you knew John."
The widow went on to describe the book as a "love letter, from me to Stella and from John to Stella," adding, "I wanted to put it down for her to see, and I did."...

Forget the scruffy Russell Crowe and Kevin Costner, prince of thieves. When it comes to Robin Hoods, my fave renegade archer is Robin of Loxley, the dashing blond jokester at the center of Mel Brooks' 1993 comedy Robin Hood: Men in Tights. His weapon of choice: A well-timed one-liner, backed up by plenty of arrow-shooting and swashbuckling. His sidekick of choice: Dave Chappelle. And he doesn't like to wear pants! Yes, this Robin is my kind of hero.
In Robin Hood: Men in Tights, Robin of Loxley (Cary Elwes) returns to England during the Crusades to find Prince John (Richard Lewis) usurping King Richard's throne. With the loyal Ahchoo (Chappelle) and his blind servant Blinkin (Mark Blankfield) at his side, Robin teams up with Little John and the Merry Men on a quest to defeat Prince John and the evil Sheriff of Rottingham (Roger Rees) and unlock Maid Marian's (Amy Yasbeck) chastity belt.

The widow of John Ritter has spoken for the first time since two doctors were cleared of misdiagnosing the tragic actor's fatal heart condition.
Amy Yasbeck and the couple's eldest children had launched a $67 million (GBP33.5 million) wrongful death case against cardiologist Joseph Lee and radiologist Matthew Lotysch at Glendale's Superior Court, following the actor's sudden demise in September 2003.
But the case found neither professional was guilty of misconduct.
However, Yasbeck admits she was disappointed by the decision.
She tells talk show host Larry King, "I was shocked because I know - I know the truth of what happened and I know because I was there.
"I was there for a good long time with John. He was sitting up and joking and laughing - and flirting. Without getting too specific, there was time and I think that what everybody learned from this trial is you don't have to play the odds just because a heart attack is way more prevalent than an aortic dissection would be."
She adds, "He was a brilliant husband. Absolutely brilliant. The most supportive person in everything I did. He was a wonderful partner.
"He was so funny. And you know, it's like, you say, well, this, you always use humour to do - but when John Ritter decided to use humour on your, you couldn't be sad, you couldn't be anything but deeply in love."...

The widow of late actor John Ritter is still battling doctors for failing to diagnose a congenital heart defect which she believes led to her husband's death The star's wife Amy Yasbeck filed a lawsuit against doctors at the Providence St. Joseph Medical Center, California, claiming her husband was misdiagnosed twice. Yasbeck and her five children already settled for $12.5 million from the Californian hospital where Ritter died - but now they are still battling three New York doctors who have submitted subpoenas arguing that the hospital's medics were not negligent. The doctors' lawyers state that Ritter was failed to make an appointment with a cardiologist three years before his death - claims which the New York doctors have subpoenaed. Yasbeck claims that if it wasn't for a missed X-ray procedure, which was never performed, Ritter would have survived. The actor was filming sitcom 8 Simple Rules when he was rushed to hospital with vomiting and chest pains - and died hours after entering the emergency room. But only when the symptoms became more violent, did the doctors discover the cause of the pain - an aortic dissection. The case against the doctors John David Friedman and Matthew Lotysch will go to trial in January.

John Ritter's family is mourning the first anniversary of the actor's death - and taking the medics they claim could have kept him alive to court. Ritter's wife, actress Amy Yasbek, and the couple's kids have filed suit against doctors at St Joseph's Medical Center in Burbank, California, claiming they misdiagnosed the aortic aneurism that cost Ritter his life on September 11. Ritter complained of chest pains, tightness and vomiting before he collapsed on the set of sitcom 8 Simple Rules a year ago. The family suit claims, "If the proper procedures had been followed to diagnose and treat Mr. Ritter's symptoms, he would be alive and well today."...

On Sept. 11, the family, friends and fans of John Ritter will commemorate the first anniversary of his death. A week later, he will compete in the best lead actor in a comedy series category at the 56th annual Primetime Emmy Awards. Ritter posthumously landed the first Emmy nomination for his role on ABC's 8 Simple Rules for his second season on the show. He filmed only three episodes of that season before he passed away, meeting the minimum eligibility requirement. Ritter's nomination "is both beautiful and bittersweet," his widow Amy Yasbeck said. The actor's colleagues on 8 Simple Rules also were moved by the news.
