Sweet Tooth Season 2 Trailer: Hybrids And Humans Still Can't Get Along In Netflix's DC Comics Series
If there's anything that the recent premiere of "The Last of Us" showed us, it's that there's still plenty of juice to wring out of the post-apocalyptic genre. The HBO show took its cues from the acclaimed video game series to give us another "Lone Wolf and Cub" story about a grizzled old man and the young ward he'll stop at nothing to protect. "Sweet Tooth," on the other hand, resides at the other end of the spectrum. Focusing on a group of kids who just happen to be, well, mutant hybrids, the Netflix series is adapted from the DC Comics series written and drawn by Jeff Lemire. Season 1 bowed in 2021 to exceptionally strong reviews and even a bevy of Emmy nominations, of which it won two: for Outstanding Supporting Performance and Outstanding Sound Mixing and Sound Editing.

Sweet Tooth's story is far from over.
Netflix on Thursday announced a renewal for Sweet Tooth Season, citing what the company calls as "60 million member households" watching the show in its first four weeks.
As is the case with Netflix's arbitrary numbers, the number above means that each of those households watched at two minutes of the series.
Sweet Tooth Season 2 will consist of 8 1-hour episodes.
Jim Mickle will serve as Executive Producer, Writer, Director, and Showrunner for season 2. Mickle said of the renewal,
“It’s been equally thrilling and heartwarming to experience how people around the world have been falling in love with our deer-boy."
"We couldn’t be more excited to continue our collaboration with Netflix and keep following Gus and his friends on their extraordinary journey,” he continued.
In addition to Mickle, Team Downey’s Susan Downey, Robert Downey Jr., and Amanda Burrell, and Linda Moran will return as Executive Producers.

Exclusive: We have learned that Jim Mickle, co-creator of Netflix’s Sweet Tooth, is partnering with Legendary and AfterShock Media to helm the film adaptation of Donny Cates’ acclaimed graphic novel God Country.
In God Country, Emmett Quinlan is an elderly widower rattled by dementia. Emmett isn’t just a problem for his children–his violent outbursts are more than the local cops can handle. When a tornado levels his home–as well as the surrounding West Texas town–a restored Quinlan rises from the wreckage. An enchanted sword at the eye of the storm gives him not just a sound mind and body, but phenomenal power. He’s now the only man who can face the otherworldly creatures the sword has drawn down to the Lone Star State in a film that will bring a Western aesthetic to the super hero genre.
Cates adapted the screenplay from the Image Comics 2017 graphic novel.

Coming to Netflix on June 4 is Sweet Tooth, based on the DC comic book series from Jeff Lemire.
The brand-new trailer debuted today.
Ten years ago “The Great Crumble” wreaked havoc on the world and led to the mysterious emergence of hybrids — babies born part human, part animal. Unsure if hybrids are the cause or result of the virus, many humans fear and hunt them. After a decade of living safely in his secluded forest home, a sheltered hybrid deer-boy named Gus (Christian Convery) unexpectedly befriends a wandering loner named Jepperd (Nonso Anozie). Together they set out on an extraordinary adventure across what’s left of America in search of answers— about Gus’ origins, Jepperd’s past, and the true meaning of home. But their story is full of unexpected allies and enemies, and Gus quickly learns the lush, dangerous world outside the forest is more complex than he ever could have imagined.

Based on the DC comic book by Jeff Lemire, “Sweet Tooth” will globally premiere on Netflix on June 4.
The eight-episode series takes place years after “The Great Crumble” changed everything. A hybrid deer-boy befriends a wandering loner and together they embark on an extraordinary adventure through the dangerous, but lush world left behind in order to find the meaning of home.
“We wanted to make a show that offers escape and adventure, where nature is reclaiming the world and in many ways it feels like a fairytale,” writer, executive producer and director Jim Mickle said. “‘Sweet Tooth’ is a new kind of dystopian story, it’s very lush and hopeful. We want people to come into this world where there’s beauty and hope and adventure. This is a sweeping story — we ride on trains, climb mountaintops, run through forests. This is a show about what makes a family, what home really means,...
