eOne Picks Up ‘The Silent Mountain’, ‘The Night Crew’ Entertainment One Films U.S. has taken North American rights to romantic drama The Silent Mountain and U.S. rights to action-thriller The Night Crew. Both films will be released by eOne via all home entertainment platforms. Directed by Ernst Gossner and written by Clemens Aufderklamm, The Silent Mountain stars William Moseley, Claudia Cardinale and Fritz Karl in the story of a young Austrian soldier in World War I who fights his way through the Alps to rescue his Italian girlfriend and escape the impending explosion that will rock the mountain. The Night Crew, directed by Christian Sesma and written by Paul Sloan and Sesma, stars Luke Goss, Danny Trejo, Bokeem Woodbine, Chasty Ballesteros and Jason Mewes. It revolves around a group of hard-up bounty hunters who must survive the night in a desert motel against a horde of savage cartel killers.

William Moseley has joined the cast of The Silent Mountain. Moseley, best known for his Peter Pevensie role in the Chronicle of Narnia movies, will play a young lover in the romantic drama. The British-born Moseley was selected earlier this year as one of the leads in the CW pilot The Selection. While not picked up, the show could air midseason. Silent Mountain tells the story of a young couple preparing to get married as Europe descends into World War I. Ernst Gossner will direct. Heinz Stussak, producer of the Oscar nominated Revanche, will produce The Silent Mountain. Eugenia Costantini plays the other young lover. Claudia Cardinale also stars. The film is scheduled to start shooting in Italy later this month. Moseley is repped by Paradigm, manager David Guillod and attorney Lev Ginsburg.

I didn’t like “Crash” and I heard comparisons between this movie and “Crash”, but “South Of Pico” is clearly a superior film. Set in a 12-hour period where five lives deal with periods of uncertainty, quiet desperation, inner demons, and in the end intersect on a fateful street at a tragic event. Shot really well, the lighting, even indoors, is immediately reminiscent of an almost blisteringly-hot day in La, which seems to be the mood that’s being set here. Gina Torres and Kip Pardue are headlining South of Pico, which begins shooting this week in Los Angeles with Ernst Gossner, making his theatrical directorial debut. The tale of four ordinary people who witness an accidental death, the film also stars Paul Hipp, Henry Simmons, Jimmy Bennett and Soren Fulton. A Snails Pace production in association with Vent Productions, the project has been financed through private equity and the Tyrolean Film Fund; written by Gossner and Richard Marcus; and produced by Eric Presley, Gossner and Marcus, with Ralf Mosig as exec producer and David Lee as co-exec producer.
