On Thursday, April 15, at 7 p.m. (Et), HeartShare invites you to Be the Light in their lives, the light at the end of the tunnel, the light that never goes out.
Join us as we toast the achievements of three remarkable honorees who are committed to helping individuals of all abilities live independent lives: Chris Perry, President of Global Sales, Marketing and Client Solutions, Broadridge Financial Solutions, Inc.; William R. The first season of the drama series, which launched last December and was quickly followed by a renewal announcement, introduced us to Melinda Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge), who answers an ad to work as a nurse practitioner in the remote California town of Virgin River thinking it will be the perfect place to start fresh and leave her painful memories behind. But she soon discovers that small-town living isn’t quite as simple as she expected and that she must learn to heal herself before she can truly make Virgin River her home.
“Virgin River” Season 1 also starred Martin Henderson, Tim Matheson, Annette O’Toole, Lauren Hammersley, Colin Lawrence, Grayson Gurnsey, and Sarah Dugdale.

Welcome to the second installment in a brand-new series here on Nerdly, Terrible Terror, in which we highlight some of, what we think, are the Worst horror movies to have ever burnt my retina with their atrociousness. Up this time is found-footage horror Episode 50.
Stars: Josh Folan, Chris Perry, Natalie Wetta, Keithen Hergott, Eleanor Wilson | Written and Directed by Joe Smalley, Tess Smalley
Ghost hunting and paranormal investigation is the hottest thing in reality TV right now, with new show after new show appearing on Us television each year. Well now the concept has been brought to the movies with Episode 50, which follows the ghost-hunting crew of the (fictional) television show Paranormal Inspectors as they shoot their 50th episode (hence the films title) at the West Virginia State Lunatic Asylum, which – at least in the “reality” of this film – is considered one of America’s most haunted sites.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences named the 19 achievements that will be celebrated by the Academy at the Scientific and Technical Awards Presentation Saturday, Feb. 15.
The awards will be presented separately from the Oscars, and are, indeed, awarded through a different process. The technologies honored do not need to have been invented in the year 2013 to win, rather, they need to have been proven to be vital contributions to filmmaking.
“This year’s honorees have in a myriad of ways enabled today’s moviegoing experience. Their efforts have advanced not only the art and science of motion pictures, but the work of countless global industries,” proclaimed Richard Edlund, the Scientific and Technical Awards Committee Chair, himself an Oscar-winner for his work in visual effects.

The Incident at Tower 37 is an impresive CG animated short film written and directed by Chris Perry and produced within the collaborative animation curriculum at Hampshire College.

[1] Bit Films [2] founder and Hampshire College associate professor Chris Perry has created this animated short, The Incident at Tower 37, about a water processing facility operator who has a crisis of conscience when he realizes where the water in his station comes from. It's less preachy and more enjoyable than it sounds, though the message -- that we need to be more conscientious about how our modern lifestyles can affect nature -- still comes across loud and clear. Watch it after the jump. Although the film is obviously meant to impart an eco-conscious moral, I'd say it does a pretty good job of avoiding the trap that a lot of message films fall into, where heavy-handed preaching pushes storytelling basics like "compelling narrative" and "relatable characters" to the wayside. I like the fact that neither the operator nor the fish-man are fully heroic or villainous -- each comes to see the repercussions of his actions.

The Incident at Tower 37 is a ten-minute HD animated film written and directed by Chris Perry and produced within the collaborative animation curriculum at Hampshire College. Perry has worked on such Pixar productions as Toy Story 2 and A Bug's Life, but he created this film independently and has released it for "World Water Day" which I didn't even know existed.

Cartoon Brew has debuted the list of the thirty-three films up for consideration in the Best Animated Short category for the upcoming 2011 Oscars and I have done my very best to find a video for each and every one. I heart Palm Springs! Why not? It's my hometown :happy
And I equally heart the Palm Springs International Festival of Short Films! Honestly, I like this better than the bloated International Film Fest in January. Why? Because this is more about the craft of filmmaking than the celebrities.
Also, the Short Fest is a good predictor of the Oscars for Best Short Film. So pay attention to the winners, and then next year, take a look at the nominees. Chances are, you'll hear about them again at the Oscars!
