Charles R. Uy is a Student Academy Award - winning director and producer. Uy's Waiting in the Wings (1997) won the 'Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences Silver Medal Student Award for Drama'. He also won the coveted 'Directors Guild of America Student Award' the same year for his thesis short. After working for producer David L. Wolper, he went on to the DGA mentoring program and had the opportunity to learn from director Joel Schumacher on set. Charles completed his Masters Degree at the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts. While attending USC he was one of the Producers of Rajeev Dassani's A Day's Work (2008) that won the Gold Medal in the 'Narrative' category at the Student Academy Awards in 2008. Charles directed and edited several PSAs for White Horse Pictures. Including a PSA that started The Who's 50th Anniversary North American Tour, spreading the word about Teen & Young Adult Cancer (#TYACancer). In addition, Building Young Lives, One Dog at a Time, a short doc about what k9 connection accomplish's every day by helping teens in challenging situations and shelter dogs that deserve a permanent home.
