He was a Heisman Trophy winner in college and an NFL star throughout the 1980s. Like other athletes, he ventured into roles in movies and television.

In the late 1980s through the mid-1990s, he was a recurring character in the popular Naked Gun series.
The detective spoof films starred the late Leslie Nielson as Detective Frank Drebin and Simpson as Detective Fred Nordberg.

This post contains spoilers for the "Sharknado" franchise.
Why is the "Sharknado" franchise still culturally relevant? Well, for starters, the appeal of the stupidly entertaining combination of the words "shark" and "tornado" has come together to create a string of unforgettable movies with progressively ridiculous narratives. Moreover, all the "Sharknado" films are defined by a conscious "so bad that it's good" factor, with a deliberate bend towards schlocky exaggeration meant to be humorous and baffling.
The premise of the first "Sharknado" film is extremely simple: a tornado ravages Los Angeles, which floods the city, causing man-eating sharks to make their way into land. A group of survivors try their utmost to outlive this catastrophe, as they need to figure out a way to evade the sharks while steering clear of the aftereffects of the tornado. Even with this rather fat-fetched premise, this could have been a serious survival drama — thankfully,...

No one can play Buffy Summers, the girl chosen by fate to be a vampire Slayer, better than Sarah Michelle Gellar. She's not the only one who's tried though.
For starters, Gellar is actually the sophomore Slayer — Buffy was first played by Kristy Swanson in the original "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" movie from 1992 (that's been soundly displaced by the TV series in pop culture). For the TV series, Charisma Carpenter originally auditioned for Buffy, but ultimately played Queen Bee Cordelia Chase instead, the part that Gellar turned down. The whole point of Cordelia is that she's what Buffy was before she became the Slayer (an acerbic popular girl), so casting Gellar and Carpenter made sense. In another world, they could pull off each others' parts.
Carpenter wasn't the only runner-up to play Miss Summers. Back in 2001, when "Buffy" was still ongoing and sensation, Natasha Lyonne appeared on "The Howard Stern Show...

Sharknado actress Tara Reid recently discussed weight loss rumors following her departure from season 2 of Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test.
Reid opened up about the “demons she continues to fight inside her,” including internet bullies and body image.
During the interview with the Los Angeles Inquisitor, she denied having anorexia and bulimia, saying, “I’m terrified of throwing up, so that’s not gonna happen. And I love food too much.”
She called out those who spread rumors about her, calling them “miserable” for spreading these “hurtful” lies about her.
“Leave me alone,” the actress said. “Pick on me again on something else, but not on those two things. It’s not right.”
She compared her experience as a thin person to that of heavier people, pointing out the double standards.

Tom Sandoval is channeling his “ultra aggression” with each new challenge on Fox’s “Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test.”
In an exclusive clip shared with TheWrap of Monday’s episode, the “Vanderpump Rules” star is called up solo by the show’s Directing Staff for a gritty fighting exercise.
“I need you to find ultra aggression,” the D.S. told Sandoval in the clip, which you can watch above. “Anything in red is fair game, apart from no head shots. Is that understood?”
“Yes, staff,” Sandoval replied, with zero clue of what’s about to come next.
As the D.S. opens the gates, the reality star gets a running head start at his opponent, who is covered in red padded gear, and begins taking hits at the instruction of the D.S.
“I’m here to push myself — mentally, physically, emotionally — to the limits,” Sandoval said in an interview. “You know,...

Many actors find early success in the horror genre. Jennifer Aniston battled an evil, pun-loving Irish creature in "Leprechaun" years before she landed "Friends," for example. Charlize Theron's first role came in "Children of the Corn III: Urban Harvest." Even "Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation" boasted not one, but two future Oscar winners in its cast, Matthew McConaughey and Renée Zellweger.
That said, not everyone manages to go on to achieve that same level of success. For every Michelle Williams ("Halloween H20: 20 Years Later") and Leonardo DiCaprio ("Critters 3"), there are countless horror stars whose careers don't reach the same level of renown. It can be especially interesting to look back at teen horror films, which often feature ensemble casts, to see who made it and who didn't. The actors on this list all have respectable careers, and most are still working in Hollywood; they simply never...

Bloodthirst is from the folks at Mahal Empire, last year they gave us their version of the zombie apocalypse, Bridge of the Doomed. This year they’re revisiting the apocalypse, only in Bloodthirst the threat comes from a different strain of the undead, vampires. Interestingly, both films were directed by Michael Su and written by Adrian Milnes this time with a story credit to Massimiliano Cerchi
In the world of Bloodthirst two factions of vampires fight for control of what’s left of the planet. What’s left of humanity is caught in the middle and rapidly heading for extinction, something that would doom the vampires as well. John Shepard walks that world as a vampire hunter who’s on the trail of The Master Vampire.

It would be almost impossible to imagine comedy in the late '90s and early 2000s without "American Pie." For people of that generation, it was a defining film that went on to become a massive mainstream hit, spawning a long-running franchise that made Universal Pictures a lot of money. It also made stars of Jason Biggs, Sean William Scott, Natasha Lyonne, Tara Reid, and much of the rest of the cast. Now, 24 years later, it appears a fifth theatrically released "American Pie" movie is on the way.
We learned last year that Sujata Day ("Insecure") has been tapped to write a "fresh take" on the franchise for Universal Pictures. It will be the first entry in the series to hit theaters since 2012's "American Reunion." It makes sense for the studio to revisit Jim, Stifler, and the gang, as the series has grossed nearly $1 billion at the global box office to date.

Who: Claire O’Shea What She Does: As task producer for the celebrity boot-camp competition, Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test her first to-do item is to scout out a base for the action. After a freshman season in Jordan’s Wadi Rum Desert, “we wanted somewhere wild and rugged, where the temperatures are extreme and the mountains dramatic,” she says. Having landed in New Zealand, O’Shea worked with a local team on the ground as well as the show’s directing staff, aka the DS, of former Special Forces operatives to design challenges for the 14 new recruits. They include Beverly Hills, 90210 alum Brian Austin Green, Olympic skier Bode Miller, NFL star Dez Bryant, actress Tara Reid, and Vanderpump Rules cheater Tom Sandoval. (Credit: Fox) In season 2… From a risky crossing atop a snowy mountain peak to a paralyzing icy water helicopter escape, the brutal environment “became the DS’s playground to punish [contestants],” says O’Shea.

The coming-of-age film American Pie was one of the surprise hit movies of the 1999 film season. Fans quickly became invested in a group of high school friends and their families in the Jason Biggs, Eugene Levy, and Jennifer Coolidge-led big-screen success. Two years later, American Pie 2 revisited the friend group, now college students. However, when the third sequel, American Wedding, was filmed in 2003, many cast favorites were missing. Why was that so?
Why were so many of ‘American Pie’s’ original cast members not a part of ‘American Wedding?’
In 2003, producers of the American Pie film franchise orchestrated the wedding of Jim Levenstein (Jason Biggs) and Michelle Flaherty (Alyson Hannigan) as the centerpiece of American Wedding. The movie intended to bring together the cast of the first two installments as a love letter for the characters and film fans who supported the franchise since 1999.

After a cheating scandal involving “Vanderpump Rules” stars Tom Sandoval and Raquel Leviss lit the internet aflame, Sandoval wanted a “public punishment” to make amends for his infidelity to then-girlfriend Ariana Madix on “Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test.”
“Tom Sandoval wanted to be punished in a way, and also prove himself — a bit of a public punishment for what had happened,” “Special Forces” EP Sophie Leonard told TheWrap ahead of the show’s release.
Just as the controversy — dubbed #scandoval by “Vanderpump Rules” fans — went viral in March, Leonard’s team was casting for the second installment of the Fox reality show, which challenges celebrities across sports and entertainment to undergo a slew of brutal tasks in brisk mountains of New Zealand.
“We were looking for people to sign up just at the time when he was probably coming through this major, life-changing public experience,” Leonard said. “He felt like...

Rosario Dawson’s starring role in Disney+’s Ahsoka, premiering Aug. 22 and based on a character from Cartoon Network’s Star Wars: The Clone Wars, is not her first time bringing an animated figure to life — she played bassist Valerie Brown in Universal-MGM’s Josie and the Pussycats, the directorial debut of Can’t Hardly Wait screenwriters Harry Elfont and Deborah Kaplan.
Based on the Archie Comics series that spawned the 1970s cartoon, the 2001 film centers on a female pop-rock group plucked from obscurity in Riverdale. Tara Reid, then 24, was cast first as drummer Melody Valentine following her turn in American Pie. Rachael Leigh Cook (She’s All That), 19, nabbed the part of frontwoman Josie McCoy over Zooey Deschanel and Maggie Gyllenhaal.
For Val, Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds — who produced the gold-selling soundtrack — encouraged the filmmakers to consider a music star, and Aaliyah, TLC’s Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes and Beyoncé were among those to audition.

2023 marks the 10th anniversary of the release of the first Sharknado, and so far celebrations have included a screening on legendary movie host Joe Bob Briggs’ Shudder series The Last Drive-In and an all-day Sharknado franchise marathon on Syfy. A decade after it became an unexpected smash on the SyFy Channel, spawning a low-budget B-movie franchise in the process, Sharknado — in which Tara Reid, Ian Ziering and John Heard battle a tornado that sucks up great whites and hammerheads and spits them out over Los Angeles — is about to hit cinemas for the very first time as part of a two-day 10th anniversary celebration.
And to help promote the return of its most famous creation, producers at The Asylum have, not unlike in their infamous slate of so-called mockbuster titles, turned to the current movie-of-the-moment for some inspiration. In an alternative special poster revealed exclusively by The Hollywood Reporter, Sharknado is given a Barbie twist, with Barbie seen driving her pink convertible into a pink hurricane flinging killer sharks (some pink) from the sky, and Ken wielding a chainsaw. It’s unlikely this came with any approval from Mattel.
