- Loyal Griggs entered the film industry in the mid-1920s, directly out of high school, as an assistant in the special effects department of Paramount. - Loyal Griggs was an American cinematographer. He is best known for Shane (1953), The Ten Commandments (1956), The Greatest Story Ever Told (1965) and In Harm's Way (1965).
Griggs won the Academy Award for Best Cinematography for Shane and he also part of the production team that received an Academy Honorary Award at the 11th Academy Awards for their efforts on the Paramount film Spawn of the North.
