- He had one of the most prolific careers of any film composer.
- His compositions were an important part in the development of cinema music.
- The Italian birth composer could completely develop his talents for the German movie which started in the silent movie era and found the height in the sound film of the 30's.
- Before Giuseppe Becce got in touch with the film business he already wrote the operetta "Das Bett der Pompadour" in 1910 and the opera "Tullia" in 1912.
- In the 20's became Becce the head of the Ufa music department.
- In 1913 the producer Oskar Messter intended to film the life of composer Richard Wager. Because his relatives demanded too much royalty, Messter was in search of a composer who was able to arrange the music for his film in Wagner's style. As a result he came across with Giuseppe Becce. Becce didn't take over only the job for the music but also took over the leading role.
- In later years he appeared only one time more in front of the camera for the movie "Der Absturz" (1922), with the famous Asta Nielsen as his partner.
- After the war he was able to continue his work successful and he composed the music for numerous other movies in the 50's. Beside it he also contributed his music to documentaries.
- Giuseppe Becce belonged to the few people who faced the rise of the sound film positive and he saw big advantages in it. He said: "Together with the development of the sound film, the development of the cinema music will walk hand in hand, because the sound film will help to create the style of the film music for which all serious composers are already trying to get".
- His real passion he found with the setting of mountain films, especially for Luis Trenker. There he could catch the mountains with their threats and beauties on a wonderful way with his dramatic music.
- In 1920 Becce published the magazine Film-Ton-Kunst.
- Becce died in Berlin and is buried in the cemetery of Berlin-Wilmersdorf, Berliner Straße.
- In 1906 he moved to Germany and studied musical composition with Arthur Nikisch and Ferruccio Busoni.
- In the 1913 silent movie Richard Wagner, directed by Carl Froelich, Becce played the title role and wrote the accompanying music. He continued to write such music for a series of subsequent movies. A collection of these pieces, the so-called "Kinothek" was published between 1919 and 1933 by the Verlag Schlesinger'sche Buchhandlung in Berlin.
- With the arrival of sound movies Becce worked on musical movies and movies covering opera or operetta themes.
- He showed his musical talents early and was named the director of the student musical orchestra at the Padua University when he studied geography.
- From 1915 to 1923, Becce was the director of the little orchestra of the Berlin Mozartsaal cinema, located upstairs at the Neues Schauspielhaus in the Nollendorfplatz.
- After World War I, he was named to direct the music department of the Decla-Bioscop AG and chief director of its movie orchestra, later to become the Universum Film AG (UFA) orchestra.
- He also worked at major movie theaters as director of the orchestras, among them the Ufa-Pavillon am Nollendorfplatz in 1921, the Tauentzien-Palast from 1923, and the Gloria Palast from 1926. In this position he worked with the famous directors of the German silent movie era, namely Fritz Lang, Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau, Georg Wilhelm Pabst, Ernst Lubitsch, Ludwig Berger, Joe May and Berthold Vierte.
- Becce was very prolific providing music to movies for more than four decades; he commonly mixed his own compositions with creations of other composers.
- He worked with Leni Riefenstahl, Luis Trenker, and Harald Reinl whose mountain films he scored.
- In 1927 he published, together with Hans Erdmann and Ludwig Brav, the Allgemeines Handbuch der Filmmusik; it was based on his Kinothek, amongst other items, and enabled the pianist of silent movies to accompany movies in the generalized style and motifs of renowned composers.
