The juxtaposition of moments in time, such as one person experiencing immense joy and another hitting rock bottom, or someone dying while someone else is being born, has always been an intriguing concept in film. But there’s a certain finesse that goes into making each separate vignette engaging — and in some cases, even urgent — so that these slivers of tales resonate with the audience. Unfortunately, “Berlin, I Love You” lacks that essential finesse.
This fourth installment of the “Cities of Love” franchise centers on Berlin and, like the other segments, tells ten not-so-interwoven stories that illuminate various themes including love and loss. There’s the woman (Keira Knightley) who takes in an abandoned Arabic child, much to the chagrin of her disapproving mother (Helen Mirren). There’s also the Hollywood actor (Luke Wilson) grappling with his stagnant career and looking for something, or someone, who can exhilarate him once again.

Exclusive: The Match Factory is working again with Belgian director Sam Garbarski on international sales for his new feature film, starring Moritz Bleibtreu and Alba Rohrwacher.
Described by Garbarski as “a historical comedy, a comedy of life, more moving than humorous because it’s true”, Bye-Bye Germany (working title) reunites with the Cologne-based sales company after their previous collaboration on the Locarno 2013 title Vijay And I.
The film will also see him reunited with German actor Moritz Bleibtreu, the star of Vijay and I, as a Holocaust survivor with a remarkable secret.
The international cast includes Alba Rohrwacher as an Italian Jew with a Harvard degree who hunts down Nazis, Hungarian actor Pal Macsai (‘Terapia’), Anatole Taubmann (Quantum Of Solace), La-based Israeli actor Mark Ivanir (Schindler’s List, ‘Homeland’), the German Film Award-winning Swiss actor Joel Basman (We Are Young. We Are Strong.) and Berlin-based, Turkish-born Tim Seyfi (‘Spiral’).

The Shakespeare authorship question is a debate that started over one hundred years ago surrounding the identity of the works traditionally attributed to the bearded Bard from Stratford-Upon-Avon, William Shakespeare. Was he really the genius behind Hamlet.s tragic life, Romeo.s burning love, and Lady Macbeth.s plaguing guilt? Could the intellectual behind literature.s most brilliant characters be this very ordinary man from Stratford?
So little is known about the man from Stratford that many find it impossible to believe that the son of an illiterate tradesman was the author of such literary masterpieces as .The Merchant of Venice,. .King Lear,. and .Henry V.. His education from a village school could never have provided Shakespeare with a vocabulary extensive enough to write the most talked about literature in the world and there is no proof that he travelled to foreign lands let alone learnt to speak their native tongues.
