Had three children with his first wife Emma (1880-1916): Konrad (1906-1993), Max (1910-2004) and Maria (Ria, 1912-1998).
Had five children with his second wife Auguste (1895-1948): Ferdinand (b. 1920, died soon after birth), Paul (1923-2007), Charlotte (b. 1925), Elisabeth (1928-2019) and Georg (1931-2020).
He did not smoke or drink.
He enjoyed playing boccia, reading crime novels and eating chocolate.
