The International Film Festival Rotterdam has appointed its new team line up and structure as the festival revamps.
The selection committee for features consists of former IFFR programmers Stefan Borsos (South and South-East Asia), Michelle Carey (English speaking territories), Evgeny Gusyatinskiy, Mercedes Martinez-Abarca, Olaf Möller, Lyse Nsengiyumva (Sub-Saharan Africa), Olivier Pierre (French speaking territories), and Delly Shirazi, former Shorts programmer Koen de Rooij, and new hires Rebecca Depas, and Kristína Aschenbrennerova.
The Shorts programme will be curated by the selection committee for shorts consisting of Rebecca De Pas, Cristina Kolozsvary-Kiss, Lyse Nsengiyumva, Ivan Ramljak, Koen de Rooij, and Leonie Woodfin.

Goodridge joins the International Film Festival & Awards Macao in its second year of operation.
Protagonist Pictures CEO Mike Goodridge has been appointed artistic director of the International Film Festival & Awards Macao (Iffam).
Goodridge is stepping down from Protagonist in August, but will remain on the company’s board of directors.
The second edition of the Iffam is scheduled to take place at the Macao Cultural Centre from December 8-14.
The Iffam Organising Committee has also announced that the festival’s competition programme would be dedicated to films from first and second time film-makers and that the jury would award a $60,000 prize for best feature.
“This is a young festival and we think that our international competition should consist of work from young directors who can offer fresh perspectives on the world we live in,” said Goodridge.

Director Miguel Gomes and his three-volume 383-minute film Arabian Nights has won the $48,000 (A$62,000) Sydney Film Prize, it was announced on Sunday, the closing night of the 62nd Sydney Film Festival.
Journalist Michael Ware was awarded the $7,730 (A$10,000) Documentary Australia Foundation Award for Australian Documentary for Only the Dead, about his experiences in Afghanistan. The film was co-directed with Bill Guttentag.
Director Andrew Lancaster’s The Lost Aviator received a special mention for a family story of murder, love and aviation.

The 2015 Sydney Film Festival has announced the jury in charge of judging the 12 titles in the Official Competition, which "recognises courageous, audacious and cutting-edge film." The winner will take home the Sydney Film Prize and A$60,000 cash.This year's jury will be headed by Australian film producer Liz Watts (Animal Kingdom, Home Song Stories, Jewboy). The 18th Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival (PiFan) announced its line-up today with Maximilian Erlenwein’s German thriller Stereo [pictured] as the opening film.
Stereo received its world premiere in the Berlinale Panorama section in February but will recieve its Asian premiere at PiFan.
The festival’s closing film will be the world premiere of Korean director Kwon Lee’s sophomore feature My Ordinary Love Story, featuring popular stars Song Sae-byeok and Kang Ye-won.
“My Ordinary Love Story starts off as a humorous romantic comedy and later transforms into a horror mystery,” said chief programmer Jangwan Pyeon, describing it and the opening film as representative of the PiFan’s focus on more “complex genre films” this year.
The festival will screen 210 films from 47 countries with 43 world premieres and 20 international premieres. It will run July 17-27 with the closing ceremony on July 25 and encore screenings on the last two days.

Peepli Live, written and directed by Anusha Rizvi was awarded the ‘Best First Feature Film’ at the 31st edition of the Durban International Film Festival. The International Jury comprising of producers Aihara Hiromi of Japan; Christoph Thoke of Germany and South African academic, writer and producer Bhekizizwe Peterson noted: “ Peepli Live is an ambitious and well-realized film that deals with serious political issues in a witty and entertaining manner. It creates an enchanting world of colourful characters, images and music that engrosses viewers throughout”.

TORONTO -- Despite Montreal's summer film festivals remaining under a political cloud, the Festival du Nouveau Cinema (Festival of New Cinema) on Monday announced new programmers and awards for its 35th edition in October. Festival founder and programming director Claude Chamberlan said New York-based film producer Madeleine Molyneaux (Down in the Valley) will program U.S. independent films in Montreal, while art and technology specialist Hugo Guerreiro will select new media works. In addition, Tokyo-based Hiromi Aihara has been brought on board to help program the Temps Zero sidebar on Asian film. Past programrs returning to the Festival du Nouveau Cinema include festival co-founder Dimitri Eipides, Philippe Gajan, Julien Fonfrede, Don Lobel, Daniel Canty and Nicolas Girard Deltruc. The festival, which runs Oct. 18-28, also has introduced new awards in its international juried short-film competition, including best actor and actress trophies.
