The chants and shouts of pro-Palestinian demonstrators disrupted the entry to the Washington Hilton for this year’s White House Correspondents’ Association dinner, but once inside, attendees were greeted with what has become the usual scene: Celebrities on the red carpet, a crush for the security line and glitterati packed into a cavernous ballroom.
“I want to thank my wife for enduring lots of jokes and for agreeing to individually meet everyone in this room right after the ceremony,” the evening’s featured entertainer, Colin Jost, quipped about Scarlett Johansson, who posed for photos with a non-stop stream of attendees. She continued to do so later in the evening, at the Comcast-nbcu after party at the French ambassador’s residence.

Taylor Swift, Beyoncé and other music stars served as major sources of inspiration behind the Halloween costumes displayed on morning and daytime talk shows this year.
Three shows featured hosts dressing up as Swift, with Today‘s Savannah Guthrie, Live‘s Kelly Ripa and The Talk‘s Amanda Kloots all dressing as the superstar singer-songwriter, with the latter two also passing out friendship bracelets in an ode to Swift’s hit Eras tour.
Live With Kelly and Mark took the Swift inspiration one step further, dubbing their annual Halloween extravaganza The Eras Show as they looked back through different decades of pop culture and of Live‘s own onscreen Halloween celebrations. While Ripa and Consuelos kicked things off with their take on the Barbie movie, they doled out friendship bracelets in an homage to Swift and spoke about the Eras tour inspiration for their show.

NBC News may trump its rivals when it comes to interviewing a certain former Commander-in-Chief.
David Muir, Lesley Stahl, John Dickerson, Chris Wallace, Bill O’Reilly, Kaitlan Collins and Jim Acosta have all tried their hand at interviewing Donald Trump; lobbing questions at him; or moderating a debate or event in which his participation was key. Some have drawn blood and others have been bloodied (and some others left agog as Trump walked out unexpectedly). But anchors and reporters working for NBC News seem to have the most success at keeping him in line while trying to elicit big news out of him.
Kristen Welker has the next turn at bat. She has pre-taped an interview with Trump that is one of the main features of her first broadcast at the helm of NBC News’ “Meet The Press.” The NBCUniversal-backed outlet has already revealed that Trump told her he was...

When Peter Alexander opens Saturday’s broadcast of “Today,” he will find himself opposite a new host — and a potential sparring partner.
Laura Jarrett, a relatively new arrival to NBC News, is taking over as his co-anchor on the weekend edition of the long-running morning program now that Kristen Welker is moving to host “Meet The Press.” As Alexander discovered during a rehearsal session on Thursday, he will have to be prepared.
“She is smart as heck, which is not a surprise, but she is going to throw stuff back at me, as we found out at rehearsal,” Alexander quipped. “I have got to be ready.”
By pairing Jarrett, who was recently named to helm the justice beat at NBC News, with Alexander, its chief White House correspondent, NBC is no doubt keeping its corporate eye on a critical moment. The run-up to the 2024 election will demand familiarity not only with Washington,...

Kristen Welker’s tenure at NBC News’ venerable “Meet The Press” won’t start until September 17, but the network isn’t waiting to tell viewers about it.
On Saturday, during the NBC News journalist’s last time co-anchoring the Saturday broadcast of “Today” with Peter Alexander, those who tune in will see a new promo alerting them to Welker’s imminent move. The video vignette displays Welker moments from across her recent career: in the White House briefing room covering three presidents; on the campaign trail; and moderating one of the 2020 presidential debates. The promo will also feature footage from Welker’s fill-in appearances at the “Meet the Press” desk.
When Welker takes the reins of the program from Chuck Todd, she will become the series’ 13th moderator, but just the first Black journalist to moderate the show, and just the second woman. In an interview earlier this week with Wtmj,...

Todd has moderated the program since September 2014.
There already was speculation that there would be a change on the show, after David P. Gelles was hired as executive producer last year, succeeding John Reiss.
Todd said at the end of the show on Sunday, “It’s been an amazing nearly decade long run. I am really proud of what this team and I have built over the last decade. Todd said that “the key to the survival of any of these media entities, including here at Meet the Press, is for leaders to not overstay their welcome.

Chuck Todd will cede the anchor role at NBC News’ long-running “Meet The Press” after this summer to up-and-coming correspondent Kristen Welker, the latest in a series of anchor maneuvers made by big TV-news outlets as they strive to attract a new generation of viewers.

He has delved into everything from podcasts to digital video to film festivals. But, he told viewers on the program’s Sunday broadcast, he doesn’t want to “overstay.” Executives at NBC News have kept their plans for this program close to the vest, according to a person familiar with the matter, who noted that the timing of the announcement is likely to surprise many in the industry.

He did that by sending over an espresso machine, according to NBC’s Peter Alexander. It came with a note, which appears to have been written on a typewriter. Fortunately, the ads were posted on the internet, where such mistakes are quickly and easily forgotten: One more reason not to watch @nbcsnl this weekend. #TrumpSNL https://t.co/qmkT5PhhDq — Sfdb (@sfdb) November 5, 2015 Asked to comment on the promos, Carson told Deadline that "those tactics really are for grade school" and "I've gone far beyond that now." Carney said to a question from NBC's Peter Alexander that the process is going to occur as is our commitment when the threshold is crossed, asserting that the response is going to come relatively soon.
The teen icon, who is in the Us on a temporary work visa, was arrested last week on DUI charges and resisting arrest. A petition was created the same day, urging the White House to.

The report, which had been featured on Fox News, asserted that President Obama "almost never met" with Hhs Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, but Carney explained, with waning tolerance, why the report was false.

No teleprompter, no problem. New York-based NBC News correspondent Peter Alexander popped the question to fellow journalist and Washington, D.C.-based ABC-7 anchor Alison Starling in Paris Saturday night beneath the Eiffel Tower. "I fumbled through my first couple lines," he says, "and then launched right back in. Fortunately, she said yes!" The now-engaged couple met in 2001 while working as reporters at competing news stations in Seattle. Although they went on one date, their relationship didn't get serious until they reconnected later on the East Coast. "She's fantastic," he says. Who wore the Black Halo dress best?
The Black Halo Jackie O dress is a classic silhouette, which is why I’m not surprised we’ve seen it on so many starlets — everyone from Fergie to Blake Lively has stepped out in this sexy chic sheath! Britney Spears was the most recent star to step out in the get-up — while she usually dresses down, on Aug. 7 the singer opted to slip into the blue sheath for a trip to a theater in downtown La. I’ve seen Brit sport the frock underneath a coat so I’m assuming she just plucked it out of her closet on Saturday. Considering how timeless and flattering this style looks, I think every gal should have a sheath silhouette in their closet!
