- (1952) He went with his Niagara (1953) co-star Jean Peters and other celebrities including Debbie Reynolds to entertain troops in a USO tour to Korea during Christmas of 1952. He was partial towards the army, since he had served as a sergeant during World War II. And his older brother Robert Jr. was a Paratrooper in the U.S. Army, serving in Korea, Italy, Turkey and Vietnam before retiring as a Colonel.
