As the Israel-Hamas war continues, John Oliver has noticed that some members of the media “seem way too comfortable with” the war. One of the people who caught the “Last Week Tonight” host’s attention was a retired U.S. brigadier-general who advocated for a “war crime” while being interviewed by CNN.
During a segment on the news network, retired U.S. Army Brig. Gen. Steven Anderson, an analyst who has appeared on CNN multiple times, said that Israel needs to circle Gaza and apply pressure to the region using the blockade they’ve established. “The people are going to suffer,” Anderson said, before noting that the Palestinian people would eventually give up Hamas.
“Does that mean starve the Palestinian people?” an incredulous Victor Blackwell asked on the air. “Because they will be so hungry and so desperate for water and medicine that then they will give up Hamas?”
“It sounds callous,...

We kick off this slasher film on firm ground, with a crying woman (with bosoms slightly visible) running around the woods, crying. She promptly runs afoul of some rather splendidly attired cultists dressed in remarkable red velour cloaks. We then skip to an audience, who are watching this ripe old movie, clapping, and giving it looks of appreciation and reverence as if it were directed by Kubrick himself. It turns out this is a film festival,...

So horrific. Vanderbilt University is in shock after four of their football players were indicted on August 9 on five counts of aggravated rape each for allegedly raping an unconscious 21-year-old girl in her dorm room in June.
A black cloud is looming above Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn., where four players – safety Cory Batey, 19, defensive back Brandon Banks, 19, receiver Jaborian “Tip” McKenzie, 19, and tight end Brandon Vandenburg, 20 — from the school’s football team were charged for the rape of an unconscious, 21-year-old student on August 9.
Four Vanderbilt University Football Players Charged With Rape
The four players have been indicted on five counts of aggravated rape, as well as two counts of aggravated sexual battery. Additionally, Brandon Vandenburg is being charged with one count of tampering with evidence and one count of unlawful photography, presumably for allegedly taking pictures while the sexual assault was going on.

Hoo boy is this a fun post to write. Since we censor expletives on MTV Movies Blog, I can't actually run any of the full titles of the movies I'm going to list. I'm sure you'll get the idea though.
"Kick-Ass" is out today. While that is a pretty tame title by today's standards of profanity -- it's not even censored here! -- it nonetheless contains a dirty word. The sort that, at one point, would have been unthinkable to say on television. It's a pretty non-threatening title too, especially when compared to some of the other movies out there. Even taking pornography out of the equation, there remains a history of film titles that, for one reason or another, work in a little bit of profanity. See for yourself after the jump.

Ahhhh... "F--k." An excellent title, no? Steve Anderson's documentary explores the origins of the word,...

"If I am not an actor, if I am not a singer, if I don't do what I teach, who am I?" Carol Fox Prescott recalls asking herself two years ago on her way to see a student perform. Though it was not the most comfortable query the veteran acting coach had ever asked herself, it certainly was an exciting one — inspiring her to explore a new relationship between her teaching and performing. "If I wanted to continue to become a better teacher after all these years, it was time to get back on the stage," says the New York-based Prescott, a theatre actor for close to 40 years who transitioned from performing to teaching in the early 1980s. The result was her one-woman show, Some of These Days: A Jewish Woman's Journey Through Chutzpah, Passion and Pastry With Sophie Tucker. Though she performs the show in venues across the country,...
