- S. Ansky was born in 1863 in Chashniki, Vitebsk Governorate, Russian Empire [now Vitebsk Oblast, Belarus]. He was a writer, known for The Dybbuk (1937), The Dybbuk or: Between Two Worlds and The Dybbuk of the Holy Apple Field (1997). He died on November 8, 1920 in Otwock, Poland.
- "The Dybbuk" at the Mark Taper Forum Theatre in Los Angeles, California was awarded the 1975 Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award for Distinguished Production.
