On one of his many films, Asylum, he had to create an old-fashioned tailor's dummy and then recreate the dummy come to life as an actor. Before the film began Roy made a cast of the actor's face in order to make the head of the dummy. Having made the plaster head he then used papier-mâché together with varnish to give the dummy the look of slightly damaged old cracked china.
