- Maroun Bagdadi was born on January 21, 1950 in Beirut, Lebanon. He was a director and writer, known for Out of Life (1991), L'homme voilé (1987) and Little Wars (1982). He died on December 10, 1993 in Beirut, Lebanon.

- Lebanese director who studied film in Paris and became a French citizen. He came to prominence for films which vividly depict the civil war in his country. He won a Jury Prize at the 1991 Cannes International Film Festival for "Out of Life".
