In 1945 she founded the public welfare "Help Viennese Children" in Hollywood together with Maria Jeritza and others in order to support needy children in Vienna with care packets.
The composer Franz Lehar met Grete Freund and supported her young career. He gave her letter for Berlin in which he recommended her for all his operettas.
She inaugurated the restaurant "Grete's Viennese" in New York in 1940.
Grete Freund became very quick established at the German stages and became a popular actress.
