Lady Gaga (“House of Gucci”) and Jake Gyllenhaal (“The Guilty”) sat down for a virtual chat for Variety’s Actors on Actors, presented by Amazon Studios. For more, click here.
Lady Gaga hasn’t added “movie critic” to her résumé yet — but she can’t help raving about Jake Gyllenhaal’s latest film, “The Guilty.” When she sees Gyllenhaal at our photo shoot for Actors on Actors, her praise is as effusive and passionate as fans who’ve watched her recent red-carpet run-ins might expect. “It was phenomenal,” Gaga says about Gyllenhaal’s 2021 Netflix film. “My heart was pounding out of my chest.”
Gyllenhaal plays a 911 dispatcher in the Antoine Fuqua-directed thriller — shot in only 11 days. The short time frame may have helped generate intensity, but left some doubt in its star’s mind: Gyllenhaal confides in Gaga that he wished he could have gone back and redone parts of his performance.

Kirk is the same actress whose affair with Kevin Tsujihara led to his own ouster as Warner Bros. CEO last year. But who exactly is the actress, whose relationship with two Hollywood powerhouses led to their professional demise? Charlotte Kirk was born in Kent, England and began her acting career by performing in Greek tragedies “Agamemnon” and “Arturo Ui,” while also starring in plays like “A Christmas Carol,” “Oliver Twist” and “Hairspray.” She attended Italia Conti School of Acting in London and started working with Jigsaw Performing Arts in the United Kingdom, as well as with Susan Batson and Lee Strasberg in New York City. New York -- The day before Oprah Winfrey began shooting "Lee Daniels' The Butler," she was at the White House, talking to the president.
Her access to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue (this particular trip was for a 2012 campaign interview) is considerably greater than her character's in the film. She plays Gloria Gaines, the wife of a long-serving White House butler (Forest Whitaker), whose service spans seven presidents and decades of civil rights sea changes.
"They said, `Do you want to talk to some butlers?'" Winfrey recalled in a recent interview. "I said, `No. You got some butlers' wives? I'll talk to them.'"
It was 15 years ago the last time Winfrey was on the big screen, in the 1998 adaption of Toni Morrison's novel, "Beloved," produced by Winfrey's Harpo Productions. In the time since, she's been slightly busy. "The Oprah Winfrey Show" grew into an enormous cultural force. Her work on...

On a recent Friday in New York City, Oprah Winfrey was walking down a hallway at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel with a huge smile on her face. No, she wasn't handing out free cars or trips to Australia, just high fives and heaps of positivity. If you said something she liked or agreed with -- hell, if you were simply introduced to her -- she would raise her hand in the air and wait for you to make contact, looking to transmit some of that coveted, feel-good Oprah energy into your soul.
Winfrey was in town gearing up for the initial round of press for "Lee Daniels' The Butler," her first movie in 15 years (she last appeared in Jonathan Demme's "Beloved" in 1998), and she was feeling good. Clearly, Winfrey was excited to be back on the big screen, taking on a role in a project she truly believes in.

The film is scripted to cover several decades in the life of Eugene Allen, the White House butler who served many presidents; So, based on the outfits and wigs, what period do you think we're looking at here in these photos? And, by the way, the lady walking next to Oprah - isn't that Susan Batson the acting coach? Although she's also an actress in her own right. But I wonder what she's doing there; whether she's in the film, or is working with the actors, or is involved in some other capacity. Principal photography for Lee Daniels' The Butler has begun in New Orleans, with a loaded cast that includes: Forest...

This can't be good. If you were hoping the recent public backlash against the Kardashian Klan finally meant we'd start seeing a little less of Kim and Co., think again.
Kim Kardashian, whose $10 million circus wedding and 72-day marriage were all about true love and not media attention, you guys, is currently hard at work (a sensation she's not familiar with) on Tyler Perry's latest sure-thing Oscar contender "The Marriage Counselor." To make sure the devastation over the end of her marriage to Kris Humphries wouldn't seep into her performance in Madia's Perry's flick, Kardashian is working with Susan Batson, the acting coach thanked by Nicole Kidman during her Oscar acceptance speech, who has also worked with Oscar winners Juliette Binoche, Jamie Foxx and Jennifer Connelly.
Take that in for a second.
Now, we know what you're thinking – Batson is doing it for the money. Not so … according to the coach herself,...

New York, Nov 15: Kim Kardashian has hired the acting coach Nicole Kidman thanked when accepting her Best Actress Oscar, to help nail her role in the upcoming Tyler Perry film 'The Marriage Counselor.'
Kardashian, 31, has turned to Susan Batson, who has worked with Oscar winners Juliette Binoche, Jamie Foxx and Jennifer Connelly as well as Tom Cruise and Jennifer Lopez.
The reality TV star decided to hire Batson to help her play her part in her new movie, as she struggles with her emotions in the wake of filing for divorce from ex-hubby Kris Humphries.
"Kim had been confident about the movie, but with recent events she has been worried that the stress of her real life would show through," the New York Post quoted.

It raised more than a few eyebrows when it was announced that Kim Kardashian would co-star in Tyler Perry's new movie, "The Marriage Counselor," and it raised even more eyebrows when she announced that she'd be getting a divorce. Could she handle the job, acting wise? And would her impending split distract her from the task at hand?
Heck, even some of Perry's fans were calling for her to get the boot. But fear not: from what we hear, Kim is taking this film thing very, very seriously.
According to Life & Style Magazine, Kim has hired Susan Batson, acting coach to stars such as Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise, to help her nail down her role as Ava, the co-worker of a woman going through tough times in her marriage.

The hip-hop mogul told "Inside the Actor's Studio" host James Lipton, during his pre-taped appearance that aired Tuesday night (May 25), that he predicted Halle Berry would win an Academy Award for "Monster's Ball" — with his aid.
"I knocked on Halle's door at a hotel," Diddy recalled, after his acting coach urged him to jet across the country to claim his role in the movie. "And she was like, 'What are you doing here?' Movie hunk Tom Cruise's lawyers have threatened to sue British newspaper The Independent - over quotes made about the actor's work on movie Eyes Wide Shut. The Minority Report star is reportedly furious the publication ran quotes from drama coach Susan Batson, who told the paper she had assisted both Cruise and ex-wife Nicole Kidman to "give a convincing sexual performance" in the movie. Cruise's attorneys have demanded a retraction and told the newspaper it was Kidman, not her then-husband, who worked with Batson. The Hollywood superstar is well-known for launching legal action against any media source which prints inaccurate articles about his private life, especially where his sexuality is in question.
