Before “Queer Eye” was a twinkle in our queer eyes, there was “Gay of Thrones.” Starring everyone’s favorite long-locked mother of unicorns, the Funny or Die series features “Queer Eye” hair stylist Jonathan Van Ness rehashing each “Game of Thrones” episode, and it’s exactly as amazing as that sounds. Spewing cultural references like dragonfire, Van Ness and his rotating cast of guests assign clever nicknames to each character: Daenerys is “Christina Aguilera,” Cersei is “Vintage Mia Farrow,” and Arya is “Baby Kill Bill,” as a small sampling. As guests sit in his stylist’s chair, Van Ness rattles off the drama of Westeros with his signature panache — serving Valley girl realness with a deep and abiding cultural knowledge.

With its yearly Newfronts presentation around the corner, AOL has announced a second season for one of its most significant original series. Park Bench, which centers on actor Steve Buscemi as he chats candidly with celebrity guests in informal settings, will air new episodes via AOL On.
Park Bench was first announced directly before last year's Newfronts, where AOL touted it among 12 brand new, star-driven original series. The first season, which featured guest appearances from Chris Rock, Janeane Garofalo, and Buscemi's brother Michael in its debut episode, arrived in May of that year. Park Bench succeeded not just because of Buscemi's rapport with his guests, but also because of scripted elements that added a fun, playful twist to the talk show format.

AOL unveiled 12 new original series during its presentation at Digital Content Newfronts in late April. Of that group, AOL is now set to release what is perhaps its most intriguing new offering. The online video platform has released a teaser for Follow Me, which will chronicle the off-camera lives of YouTube stars. The 10 episodes of Follow Me claim to offer behind-the-scenes access to some of the online video community's biggest stars. Included in the series' cast are Brittani Louise Taylor, 5 Second Films (5Sf), Our 2nd Life (O2L), Marquese Scott, ScrewAttack!, Secret Life of a BioNerd, fouseyTube, Black Nerd Comedy, and Megan Nicole. These diverse creators have one important commonality: They're all partners of the multi-channel network Fullscreen, which produced Follow Me for AOL. AOL has found success working alongside YouTube stars in the past, and Follow Me will up the ante by bringing in a plethora of familiar faces.

Very few episodes of Steve Buscemi's AOL talk show Park Bench actually take place on a bench. Or in a park. But the actor-host still gets his guests to talk as candidly as if they were simply hanging outside with a friend. "I'm no Dick Cavett, but I did manage to squeak by," Buscemi says of hosting the show, which unveils its final seven episodes simultaneously on Thursday, July 10. Among the guests: Method Man, the Beastie Boys, Daily Show correspondent Jessica Williams, artist Julian Schnabel, and Buscemi's Boardwalk Empire co-stars Michael Kenneth Williams and Bobby Cannavale.
"Method Man likes corny jokes, so he's my kind of guy," Buscemi says. "The Beastie Boys are very funny, and are also very good at sports. And Jessica Williams does a mean pigeon impersonation." For a sample, check out this exclusive outtake with the Beasties.

One of the most anticipated web series on AOL's 2014 original content slate has arrived. AOL On is now home to the first four episodes of Steve Buscemi's Park Bench. Park Bench follows Buscemi as he wheels a roving park bench around New York City and holds candid conversations with his actor and comedian friends. This premise is reminiscent of Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee, which also features a well-known actor as he cruises about town while shooting the bull with famous people. Chris Rock, one of the guest stars in the first episode of Park Bench, even lampshades the series' similarity to existing shows. "That's what the world needs, another talk show," he quips. "Just dying for another talk show." In execution, though, Park Bench succeeds in setting itself apart. Buscemi describes it as a talking show, and the first episode mixes in scripted bits with each episode's central conversation.

We all need a little more Steve Buscemi in our lives, and luckily, he knows it. Buscemi invented this "talking show" where he interviews New Yorkers on city park benches, and it looks much more compelling than it sounds. Hosted by AOL, "Park Bench" finds Buscemi in his element -- which honestly is whatever he wants it to be. The man can do it all. Comedy, drama, politics, you name it. It's all on display in the trailer. A few weeks back, AOL announced their web series pickups, ordering shows from Buscemi, James Franco (of course), and Zoe Saldana. While most of their programming will be 10 minutes or less, they did announce one 30-minute series, "Connected," about New Yorkers whose lives are connected in unexpected ways (perhaps through interviews with Buscemi? Do I sense a crossover?). The AOL Originals lineup is a concentrated effort by the company to put itself...

Three weeks after renewing four original series for second seasons, AOL has added to its library by debuting 12 new offerings. During its presentation at Digital Content Newfronts, AOL introduced its series one by one, with most of them accompanied by a well-known producer, director, or star. Perhaps the biggest name involved in AOL's new content slate is James Franco. The actor and experimental filmmaker will mash-up famous movie scenes as part of a series called Making A Scene. Other celebrities joining Franco on AOL include Kevin Nealon, Zoe Saldana, and Steve Buscemi (whose Park Bench series was revealed four weeks before the Newfronts presentation). AOL will also house one of the first projects from NewForm, a new digital studio created by Ron Howard and Brian Grazer. The two Hollywood heavyweights will collaborate for Inspired, in which celebrities will look back on moments that encouraged them to persevere beyond obstacles in their respective paths.

"Boardwalk Empire" star Steve Buscemi is partnering with AOL on "Park Bench," an original docuseries about New Yorkers. The show is billed as a sort of character study of both the city and its residents. Buscemi will travel around New York with a crew that will capture him having conversations about culture and current events with the city's regular and celebrity residents. It will be interesting to see how AOL and Buscemi distinguish the premise of the show, which is strikingly similar to Jerry Seinfeld's popular web series "Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee." Olive Productions and RadicalMedia are co-producing, while FremantleMedia will be handling distribution rights. Production on "Park Bench" is set to begin this month. A release date for the series has not yet been set.

Once again, the opening credits start off with 1930′s jazz music playing, similar to so many of his other films in the past, however, Then, in the opening scene, there is Jasmine (played by Cate Blanchett), a stereotypical, hoity-toity Park Avenue blonde, all glammed up, wearing Madison Avenue’s finest clothes, seated on a plane in first class, rambling to the stranger seated next to her. She tells the older woman all about her past, how she met Hal (her former successful husband), while she was studying anthropology at Bu, how he swept her off her feet, and she dropped out before graduating to marry him. As Jasmine is still talking to the woman at the baggage carousel, you notice she is a bit mentally unstable.
The cab driver drives Miss Jasmine from the airport to her adopted sister’s humble apartment at 305 Van Ness in San Francisco, so she can start a new life, as her old Hamptons style life, as the wife of Hal, a wealthy business tycoon, has quickly been robbed from her. “The government took everything,” she cries out. The film flashes back from scene to scene for the viewer to understand just how the complete Madoff style change of events has come about, and you realize Hal was a phony, sleaze ball, who lived high off the hog, off of other people’s money and had many other women, other than Jasmine. Blinded by the bling of the jewels, Jasmine fails to see clearly.
Meanwhile, Van Ness is not exactly Park Ave, and Ginger’s ex-husband Augie (played by Andrew Dice Clay), and her current boyfriend, Chili, are not exactly Mr. GQ. They are hard working, good guy, blue collar types who were sincerely in love with Ginger, however, classy Jasmine, does not approve, and thinks Ginger can do better.

On the season 2 finale of Bravo’s Million Dollar Listing New York, Luis sold a Richard Meier West Village unit that I would sell my soul to live in, which would never even work because my soul is worth approximately $6.4 million under the asking price. Damn Rich People. Ugh. End of recap. But no.

Some people hide behind the anonymity of a computer screen, but Chrissy Teigen puts it all out there. John Legend's fiancée recently posed completely naked for GQ magazine's July issue. Despite the fact that Chrissy is, um, a freaking swimsuit model, someunhappy tweeters took it upon themselves to attack her looks. But as we have all learned, the Model Behavior host isn't the type to back down in a confrontation. She posted a screengrab of one tweeter urging her multiple times to "keep your clothes on" because she was "not sexy and all" and "[looks] like a vertical Park Bench." "Such devotion to a lame dis," she noted, mock-applauding the tweeter, whose...

‘The story’ is arguably the greatest artistic achievement mankind has ever accomplished. Historically, the stories found in books have oftentimes communicated so much more and in far easier fashion than the spoken word can ever aspire to, especially a damn well written story. Books reveal far more about who humans are than humans would be willing to admit or are even capable of fathoming in an everyday basis. One should not however overlook stage plays, on radio, television and film, all of which possess their own inexplicable powers in conveying the many fascinating aspects of the human condition. Words being a commonality between all cultures the world over, is the ownership of the words per say in various art forms of the utmost importance, or does their eventual impact on their...

Two gorgeous New Yorkers, sharing a kiss on a Central Park bench. It couldn't be more romantic, right?
Wrong.
Actually, in context, the whole thing is quite the opposite. Gwyneth Paltrow and Mark Ruffalo, the smoochers in question, are both married, though that's not the main point. More pertinent here is the fact that the pair are in the midst of shooting a film called, "Thanks For Sharing," a movie about sex addicts.
To be fair, it's not quite "Shame," the Steve McQueen-directed, Michael Fassbender and Carey Mulligan-starring full frontal fest that is expected to earn an Nc-17 rating; Ruffalo, in fact, plays a recovering addict, not one unable to stop the unending cycle.
Meanwhile, Paltrow plays a businesswoman who falls for Ruffalo's character, so it's a bit more of a romantic role for her than the last flick in which she appeared; the Oscar-winner played a philandering...

The 9th annual Lausanne Underground Film Festival may just run for a mere five days in Switzerland on Oct. 20-24, but it hits with the force of a 10p-ton megaton bomb over that time period, packing in so much mind-boggling underground madness it’ll make your head explode.
Every year, the fest feels like 5 or 6 festivals crammed into one. There’s the fest that pays homage to the history of experimental filmmaking, there are the retrospectives of several cult festivals, a feature film competition section, a short film competition section and more.
Three filmmakers are especially getting major retrospective love this year. First, there’s legendary Canadian experimental filmmaker Michael Snow who will be in attendance at screenings of his classic films Wavelength, <–> and La région centrale, plus several of his other short films.
Also being feted are German extreme horror filmmaker Jörg Buttgereit, who will attend screenings of his classic Nekromantik,...

Short on budget, but long on style and quirk, writer/director/actor Park Bench’s literally biting Canadian horror/satire The Death Of Alice Blue (opening for a limited theatrical run today in Toronto, followed by an expansion across Canada) is a real find. It’s an arch, theatrical, funny and absolutely stunning-looking film, riding genres with gleeful abandon, playing with conventions and admirably cheating its limitations. And man, does it have a great central character…...

Where to even begin describing indie horror comedy The Death Of Alice Blue. I suppose you could say that it plays like the bastard love child of Arrested Development and Edward Scissorhands era Tim Burton. I'm not entirely sure that's true or fair but it will at least get you into the right neighborhood. A low budget affair that won some good love on the festival circuit, Alice Blue will be getting a theatrical release here in Canada in early August and you know what comes with releases? Trailers!

The teasing is over! This here is the real deal. The moment we wait all year for: The lineup for the powerful, the mighty Boston Underground Film Festival, which is set to run March 25 to April 1. Now in its 12th year, Buff shows no sign of slowing down or taking it easy. In fact, this might be their most demented and transgressive edition yet.
There are homages to Giallo horror, tributes to the grand grindhouse tradition of sleaze and exploitation, sex and violence galore — both separately and together — plus, a resurrected ’80s slasher classic that all combine into an epic celebration of everything that is vicious and twisted in this world. But, in a fun way, ya know.

Babelgum announced today it has secured exclusive rights to distribute season 1 of Old Friends, which is now up in its entirety, and that production is wrapping up on season 2 which will be released on the site in January 11. We've been following the work of New York comedy standouts Nick Ross and Tim Curcio for a while now, even before their popular comedy series hit the web earlier this year. Ross had starred in 2008's Park Bench series, which stood out for its sharp witted simplicity—"two lusty yet oblivious dudes whiling away the summer on a Central Park bench," according to our reviewer. The 7-episode first season of Old Friends, tells the story of Tim and Nick, two 28 year-olds who are reunited after not seeing each other since high school. There's a classic comedic tension setup, with a little love tangle going on. Tim is now married to his high school sweetheart,...
