Beneckendorff took part in radio play productions and since 1953 has appeared mostly in the field of comical old people or nobles in supporting roles in numerous DEFA films and in productions on GDR television .
During the final phase of the Second World War , he made a long guest appearance in Switzerland. When he returned to Berlin, he went to the Theater am Schiffbauerdamm , where Bertolt Brecht took him on to the Berliner Ensemble .
His appearances in front of the camera increased from the 50s and he impersonated numerous support roles.
The actor Wolf von Benekendorff worked regular at the theater when he appeared in his first movie with the silent film "Liebe im Kuhstall" (1928).
