"You once asked me to work for you, now I'm asking you to work for me." Vertical has revealed the official trailer for another Jesse V. Johnson-directed action thriller film titled Chief of Station, which means you can pretty much ignore this right away and skip it entirely. Unless this kind of bland action is your jam. The trailer below is free to watch at least (Johnson also directed the Boudica movie last year). This one drops on VOD to watch in early May. After learning the untimely death of his wife was not accidental, a former CIA Station Chief is forced back into the espionage underworld in Eastern Europe, teaming up with an adversary to unravel a conspiracy that challenges everything he thought he knew. Back in 1983, legendary producer Roger Corman brought the world a sword and sorcery film with an awesome title: Deathstalker. It was so successful, it paved the way for three sequels: Deathstalker II: Duel of the Titans (1987), Deathstalker and the Warriors from Hell (1988), and Deathstalker IV: Match of the Titans (1991). The franchise went dormant for more than thirty years, but earlier this month we learned that it’s being revived by filmmaker Steven Kostanski – whose previous credits include Manborg, Father’s Day, The Void, Leprechaun Returns, Psycho Goreman, and episodes of the short-lived Day of the Dead TV series. Kostanski is writing and directing a Deathstalker remake that has Daniel Bernhardt (John Wick) on board to play the title character… and now more details on the plot have been revealed!

Lots to unpack in this announcement for Steven Kostanski's Deathstalker, the rebooting of the fantasy action movies from the 80s, once produced by the Roger Corman (uncredited). As everyone knows, Kostanski's love for the kitschiest of 80s popular culture knows no bounds. Sucking from the teet of the local video stores in the early years his enthusiasm for that culture need not be contained but embraced. Embrace it! First announced in ScreenDaily we know that veteran action and stunt actor Daniel Bernhardt is attached to take on the titular role of Deathstalker. If you are unfamiliar with Bernhardt's career we've included his lockdown-era video interview conducted by Scott Adkins down below. Bernhardt has been in the game for a long time. There...

"His knowledge for action & stunts, and how to tell a story within it, it's impressive." –Chris Hemsworth discussing director Sam Hargrave. Netflix's new spectacular action movie Extraction 2 is now available to watch as of today. They've released a new behind-the-scenes featurette to build up the hype. The movie is a direct follow-up to the Netflix action film Extraction from 2020 - and it's getting much better reviews than that one. Stuntman turned filmmaker Sam Hargrave returns to direct the sequel, alongside producers Joe & Anthony Russo. Chris Hemsworth co-stars along with Golshifteh Farahani, Daniel Bernhardt, and Tinatin Dalakishvili. Hargrave is an experienced stunt man / fight coordinator himself and knows how to pull off incredible sequences. There's one long 20-minute take in this, along with a massive amount of other action to enjoy. The marketing for this movie kicked off with a making of video last year, but I'm glad to...

The much-awaited trailer for the action thriller ‘Extraction 2’ is out. Scheduled for streaming on Netflix from June 16, the Chris Hemsworth-starrer is being helmed by stuntman-turned-filmmaker Sam Hargravere, who’s wokring alongside the hitmakers Joe and Anthony Russo.
The sequel stars Chris Hemsworth, Golshifteh Farahani, Daniel Bernhardt and Tinatin Dalakishvili.
In the first instalment released in 2020, and which also starred Randeep Hooda, Tyler Rake, the Australian black market mercenary played by Hemsworth, had to extract a boy safely from India.
This time he must rescue the family of a ruthless Georgian gangster from the prison where they are being held.
The screenplay, written by Joe Russo, is based on the graphic novel ‘Ciudad’.
If the first film introduced audiences to Rake as a seasoned action hero, Hargrave says the sequel aims to show how he got that way, and the toll it has taken on him and those close to him.

Back when the global pandemic was ramping up, it turned out all anyone wanted to do was watch Chris Hemsworth get put through the wringer. "Extraction" proved a big hit for Netflix when it debuted in April 2020 — at least according to the streamer, which claimed the action thriller broke viewership records. Naturally, that meant there was always going to be an "Extraction 2," even though Hemsworth's black market mercenary, Tyler Rake, looked like he almost certainly perished at the end of the first one.
Rake was shot multiple times before falling off a bridge during the finale of "Extraction." But in the film's closing moments, it was suggested he may have survived the ordeal, as a blurry figure emerges right before the film cuts to black. Then, an "Extraction 2" teaser arrived back in September 2021, confirming his survival. Things went kind of quiet for a while after that, before we...

2023 is shaping up to be a year of action with films like John Wick: Chapter 4 and Fast X. Netflix‘s own Extraction proved to be a big hit for Chris Hemsworth outside of Marvel films, and though the first ended on somewhat of an open note regarding his character’s survival, the streamer has brought him back and is ready to give audiences the ride of their lives in the newly released posters of the sequel. Sam Hargrave returns to direct Hemsworth in more breathtakingly brutal action scenes for this year’s Extraction 2.
The official synopsis from Netflix reads,
Chris Hemsworth returns as Tyler Rake in Extraction 2, the sequel to Netflix’s blockbuster action film Extraction. After barely surviving the events of the first movie, Rake is back as the Australian black ops mercenary, tasked with another deadly mission: rescuing the battered family of a ruthless Georgian gangster from...

The latest teaser for Netflix’s action sequel Extraction 2 has Chris Hemsworth’s Australian black ops mercenary Tyler Rake taking on a new deadly mission as it’s revealed Rake survived the events of the original film.
In the sequel, Rake is tasked with rescuing the battered family of a ruthless Georgian gangster. Rake seemingly died in the original Extraction, which hit Netflix in 2020, but a last-minute reveal put that into question. A Tudum teaser from 2021 with the hashtag #RakeLives also suggested there was more to come from Rake’s character.
Hemsworth’s death-defying stunts in the latest Extraction 2 trailer include endless punching and kicking and using a riot shield to beat off a chaotic swarm of attacks in a prison yard.

A lot of peculiar things happened during the early months of the pandemic some 12,000 years ago in 2020. With everybody stuck at home, many people tried their hand at baking bread or singing sea shanties on TikTok. Others devoted their free time to playing "Animal Crossing: New Horizons" and remain very proud of the house they built for themselves, Tom Nook's parasitic loans be damned. Oh, and with most theaters shut down, viewers were left with little choice but to turn to streaming services for their entertainment.
Perhaps no movie benefitted more from the lockdowns than Netflix's "Extraction." A cross between "John Wick" and "Man on Fire," the movie stars Chris Hemsworth as Tyler Rake, a remarkably named black ops mercenary with a checkered past who's hired to rescue the son of an incarcerated Indian drug lord. Action is back, baby! While John Wick: Chapter 4 is blasting through the box office with a Dragon’s Breath shotgun, Chris Hemsworth also returns with his own fight and stunt spectacular with the Netflix sequel, Extraction 2. In the original, we are introduced to Tyler Rake, a mercenary who had taken on the assignment of seeking and rescuing the kidnapped son of a prisoned, international crime lord. After being presumed dead at the end of Netflix’s first “Extraction” film, Chris Hemsworth is back (surprise!) as black ops mercenary Tyler Rake for another high-octane mission.
In the first trailer for “Extraction 2,” Hemsworth’s Rake is revealed to be alive, and he’s wasting no time getting back to action. He brutally beats people down with a riot shield in what appears to be a prison break, uses the shield to deflect a fiery molotov cocktail, then proceeds to punch rioters with his burning fist.
Director Sam Hargrave returns for the sequel, as do producers Anthony and Joe Russo, who previously teamed with Hemsworth on “Avengers: Endgame.” After making his directorial debut with the first “Extraction,” the follow-up is Hargrave’s second film. He previously worked as a stunt coordinator with the Russos on “Avengers: Endgame,” “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Captain America: Civil War.”

Chris Hemsworth’s Tyler Rake is very much alive in the first trailer for “Extraction 2,” the sequel to the hit 2020 Netflix actioner that ended with Hemsworth’s mercenary left for dead.
Sam Hargrave returns to direct “Extraction 2,” which finds Rake tasked with another deadly mission: rescuing the battered family of a ruthless Georgian gangster from the prison where they are being held. Indeed, the sequel trades the sweaty Bangladesh landscape of the first film for snowy Georgia.
The teaser offers up a bit on how Rake survived the end of “Extraction,” but the bulk of the footage is a long shot in which Rake fights his way through a barrage of baddies.
When released in 2020, “Extraction” quickly became one of the most-watched Netflix original films ever, and the streamer quickly greenlit a sequel.
Joe and Anthony Russo’s Agbo produces “Extraction 2” and Joe Russo wrote the script.

Action films of all types and budgets are coming out left and right. The action film "Nobody" hit theaters at a time when the pandemic-era box office was only starting to bounce back -- which is to say, if you haven't seen it yet, you should. It tells the story of a man named Hutch, who lives a dull suburban life. Each day he jogs, goes to work, and disappoints his family with his banality. When their home is broken into, his kid gets punched, and everyone thinks he's a failure. He's ... well, a nobody. That is, until, the proverbial crap hits the fan. Then Hutch's entire life changes, and we learn what he's been hiding under his everyday dad's existence. Hutch is a badass who has a history of taking down targets for years but has retired.
So, who played Hutch? Some hulked-out action star? Nope. It was Bob Odenkirk. The film worked because Odenkirk wasn't hiding some wildly muscular physique behind his dad sweaters.

Eckhart replaces Alec Baldwin, who was previously announced for the lead role. We hear Baldwin has become unavailable due to a lengthier shoot than anticipated for a production taking place in Budapest. Cameras roll next month with a cast that also includes Olga Kurylenko and Alex Pettyfer.

Halloween is the season for horror, of course. But October also means fall TV is in full swing, so it’s also the season for comedy, animation, drama, and more. TV shows of all kinds honor this spooky time of year, be it through explicit celebrations of the season or more abstract explorations of dark themes like existential dread, societal corruption, and the hubris of humanity.
Instead of just binging television horror this season — “Yellowjackets” is for winter! — why not truly frighten yourself with scary episodes of (generally) non-scary shows? “Black Mirror” regularly borders on nightmarish, but falls squarely into the sci-fi category, and still one episode haunts us like the scariest movies do. “Chernobyl” recounts real-world horror, which makes it a historical drama, but we’d argue that Episode 4 is a haunting on par with Mike Flanagan’s “Hill House.” Even comedies like “Boy Meets World” and “American Vandal...

"Against all odds, find a way to make the impossible… just another target." Netflix has unveiled another thrilling first look during their Tudum special event - this one a behind-the-scenes first look at action film Extraction 2. The film is a direct follow-up to the Netflix action thriller Extraction from 2020. Stuntman turned filmmaker Sam Hargrave returns to direct the sequel, alongside producers Joe & Anthony Russo. Hemsworth stars with Golshifteh Farahani, Daniel Bernhardt, and Tinatin Dalakishvili. In the first one, Rake had to extract a boy safely from India. This time he must rescue the battered family of a ruthless Georgian gangster from the prison where they are being held. This looks like it has tons of crazy awesome action! Really enjoying that we get a making of look this early, before it's even released, giving us a taste of some of the massive set pieces they've been filming including that epic "oner" as well.

Allison Janney has found that, depending on the person and location, people want to talk to her about different projects.
“Sometimes a person will come up to me and I’m sure they’re a ‘West Wing’ person but they say ‘Drop Dead Gorgeous’ is their favorite movie,” says the 62-year-old actress. “Or I’ll think they’re about to talk about ‘Mom’ and they saw me in ‘A View from the Bridge’ on Broadway. It’s really fun to have people know all these different things.”
Yet after so many iconic roles, Janney is still finding she can do new things on screen. Case in point, her latest movie, “Lou,” now available to stream on Netflix, finds her playing an action hero. Not only that, she’s the film’s lead – something she didn’t realize until an interview with Variety.

Oscar winner Allison Janney has a very special set of skills — including how to kick ass.
For the Netflix action film “Lou,” Janney stars as the titular retired vigilante whose life is interrupted after a desperate mother (Jurnee Smollett) begs her to help save her kidnapped daughter. Per an official synopsis: “As a massive storm rages, the two women risk their lives on a rescue mission that will test their limits and expose dark and shocking secrets from their pasts.”
Logan Marshall-Green, Matt Craven, and Ridley Asha Bateman also star in the film, directed by Anna Foerster (“Underworld: Blood Wars”) from a script by Maggie Cohn and Jack Stanley. Bad Robot’s JJ Abrams, Hannah Minghella, and Jon Cohen are producing, with lead stars Janney and Emmy nominee Smollett executive producing. Lindsey Weber, behind Prime Video’s “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” is also serving as an executive producer.

Allison Janney is not f*cking around in Netflix‘s new Lou trailer. Tucked deep in the Pacific Northwest, a woman named Lou (Janney) is minding her own business with a loyal canine at her side. When a massive storm hits the area, the daughter of Lou’s neighbor (Jurnee Smollett) gets kidnapped. Terrified and needing someone with specific skills, the neighbor and Lou join forces to locate the child and bring her home safely. The Lou trailer mixes the urgency of Taken with the brutality of John Wick as Janney goes on the warpath, and I am all about it.
Reports indicate that Janney partnered with Daniel Bernhardt for Lou, the same fight choreographer who worked with Charlize Theron and Halle Barry in Atomic Blonde and John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, respectively. Anna Foerster directs Lou from a screenplay by Maggie Cohn and Jack Stanley. J.J. Abrams produces through Bad...
