Pierre Berton was born on July 12, 1920 in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory, Canada. He was a writer and actor, known for Klondike (1960), Folio (1955) and ABC Weekend Specials (1977). He was married to Janet Berton. He died on November 30, 2004 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Began his career as in journalism, acquiring the position of city
editor at a Vancouver paper when he was 21. Later became better known
for his TV appearances and his popular books on aspects of Canadian
history.
Was an ardent Canadian nationalist.
He was awarded the O.C. (Officer of the Order of Canada) on December
18, 1974 and the C.C. (Companion of the Order of Canada) on June 23,
1986 for his services to broadcasting, journalism, and media.
