What was old was extremely new on Netflix in January and even into this month.
Specifically, the Peter Farrelly-created dramedy series about addiction, Loudermilk, which was barely found in its original run on the now-unplugged AT&T Audience Network, became a must-see show on the streamer six-plus years after its original airing.
In Nielsen’s Top 10 for Streaming Originals (January 8-14), Loudermilk ranked No. 8 with 846 million viewing minutes.
But even before that list was published, Loudermilk was showing signs of life across the streamer’s own Top 10 charts. Loudermilk Season 1 was in the Netflix Top 10 most-viewed shows in the U.S. for four weeks with a peak rank of No. 4 during the week of January 15-21. Season 2 of Loudermilk ranked in the Netflix top 10 stateside during the week of July 28.

Back when Peter and Bobby Farrelly were still making movies as a team, Jack Black starred for them in one of their big comedy hits, Shallow Hal. He's now set to reunite with the sibling duo for new Christmas film Dear Santa.
The Farrellys are also back together for this one — though Bobby is actually directing, while Peter produces and co-writing the script with his brother and Ricky Blitt.
Dear Santa, which sprung from an original idea from Dan Ewen, focuses on a young boy, who in writing his yearly note to Santa, mixes up the letters and sends it to Satan instead.
This is one that has been on the Farrellys' radar for more than a decade now, originally set up at 20th Century Fox as Dear Satan, but now squatting at Paramount.
The cast also includes Robert Timothy Smith, Keegan-Michael Key, Brianne Howey, Hayes MacArthur, Pj Byrne, Jaden Carson Baker,...

Here’s Your Damn Family, a multi-camera comedy produced by Warner Bros TV, the studio behind Big Bang, has received a cast-contingent order. The project was originally sold to Fox, where McPherson has a first-look deal, with penalty in September. It marked Galecki’s first sale as a producer, and now it is his first pilot order. Here’s Your Damn Family also represents the first pilot order for McPherson in his first season as a producer, in which he sold a dozen or so pitches. The comedy centers on a stunted, set-in-his-ways thirtysomething man living with his mom who finds his perfectly organized world upended when his mother/roommate gets married, and her new husband plus his three teenage children move in. Blitt, Galecki and McPherson executive produce.

Exclusive: It’s good that Will Sasso has landed the title role in a movie, but I’m led to wonder why so many film companies press forward with naughty titles knowing full well they will never make it to the screen because newspapers and TV can’t run the advertising. Sasso, most recently seen as Curly in the Farrelly Brothers-directed The Three Stooges, has signed to star opposite David Koechner in director Andrew Currie’s suburban comedy feature My Asshole Neighbor. Sasso will portray Jerry, a loud, rude redneck who moves next door to a professional mediator Paul (Koechner), turning his world upside down. Once his private little patch of peaceful suburbia is invaded, the usually peace-loving Paul finds himself waging war on Jerry — which ultimately begs the questions, who’s really the asshole, and which sphincter will prevail? Produced by Mary Anne Waterhouse, the film will shoot mid-August in Vancouver.

After securing a hefty raise, "Two and a Half Men" star Jon Cryer is in final negotiations to star in the indie comedy "Hit By Lightning," which marks the feature directorial debut of former "Family Guy" writer-producer Ricky Blitt. Blitt wrote the script, which is described as a cross between "The 40 Year-Old Virgin" and "Body Heat." Cryer is nearing a deal to play a single fast food manager who finally finds love with the perfect woman, but there's a catch -- she's married and wants him to kill her husband. Even...

[1] Love him or hate him, there's no denying things are looking up for Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane. His series continues to be a hit in its tenth season, his feature film Ted is set to hit next year, he's updating the '80s PBS series Cosmos: A Space-Time Odyssey, and earlier this year, he finally won the rights to reboot [2] The Flintstones for film and television. Now he's kinda-sorta got his eye on bringing back another classic property: Star Trek. After the jump, read about MacFarlane's interest in the iconic sci-fi series, plus his thoughts on modernizing The Flintstones and (eventually) ending Family Guy. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter [3], MacFarlane revealed his desire to take over one of his favorite franchises: MacFarlane is particularly eager to reboot one of his favorite franchises, Star Trek, for TV. "I don't know who would give me the keys to that car,...

Nearly two years ago, in January of 2009, it was reported that Cher, who hadn't acted in six years up to that point, was interested in doing a film called The Drop Out with Johnny Knoxville. Set to be written and directed by Ricky Blitt (The Ringer), the film would have featured Knoxville as a 30-something slacker who gets kicked out of his parents house and decides to shack up with the cougar next door, to be played by Cher. Fast forward to now, the film still hasn't been made, but that doesn't mean that the actress isn't still interested. In the time since, Cher has decided to make her comeback with the film Burlesque, starring Christina Aguilera in her first film role, and while promoting the film today, she mentioned that she's still holding a torch for the project. Sitting in on a roundtable interview with the Oscar winner, she...

Sony Pictures TV has set up 3 half-hour projects - one at ABC and 2 at NBC - with script commitments that all have penalties attached to all. The ABC project reunited the studio's non-writing producer Jamie Tarses with Betsy Thomas, creator of the recently canceled TBS sitcom series My Boys, which the two executives produced for Sony TV. Thomas is writing and exec producing the untitled ABC workplace relationships comedy. Tarses is executive producing through her Sony-based shingle Fanfare. The NBC projects come from writers Jeff Bushell (What I Like About You) and Ricky Blitt. The untitled Jeff Bushell comedy, which he is writing and co-executive producing, is set in pediatrician's office. Sony TV is co-producing with Happy Madison. The untitled Ricky Blitt comedy is an ensemble from a male viewpoint about being single and 40.

Alyssa Milano has insisted that the characters in Romantically Challenged will not start dating each other. Milano, who plays Rebecca, explained that the comedy's creator Ricky Blitt wanted to avoid making the show too clichéd. "No characters will end up pairing off," she told Zap2It. "That is something that Ricky Blitt has really fought for. "He didn't want the show to fall into that cliché of, 'Oh, here's platonic friends... two of them have to end up together'. So he's fought against that." She continued: "I don't know, if we're (more)...

Monday (April 26) marks the second time we get to see the "Romantically Challenged" Rebecca (Alyssa Milano) try to find her way through the foreign world of dating.
Milano talks to Zap2it about why she took the role, how she compares "a lot" to Rebecca and what we can expect down the road for her unlucky-in-love character.
What about this particular show sparked your interest? Why take this project?
I think initially it was the script ... Every pilot season you read a stack of scripts, I would say anywhere between 20 - 35 scripts. And a lot of them aren't great. And this was one that was at the top, that every time I went back to read it, I would have a different response. A different positive response to it. I just love that Ricky Blitt's writing is somewhat edgy, but also that the women are written with distinct comedic voices,...

An enviable berth behind ratings powerhouse Dancing with the Stars gave ABC's new Romantically Challenged a much-needed boost, but the Alyssa Milano comedy still couldn't beat a repeat of CBS' Big Bang Theory. The ABC show averaged 11.56 million viewers and a 3.1 rating/8 share among adults 18-49 -- not enough to outrank Bang, which averaged 11.6 million viewers and a 4.0/10 in the demo. ABC was still up in the time slot versus last year (17 percent in viewers, 29 percent in 18-49), when it aired Surviving Suburbia. Romantically Challenged also beat the final half-hour of Fox's 24 by 2.6 million viewers and by 11 percent among adults...

Back in 1984, the nation was introduced and shortly developed a crush on Alyssa Milano, playing the daughter on ABC’s Who’s The Boss. Since then, Milano has practically grown up in front of the camera, doing Boss for 8 years, and then moving onto the WB’s Charmed for another 8.
Now, Milano is making her return to the multi-camera styled sitcom in Romantically Challenged. This time, she’s the lead, and not playing the typical straight-man. We got the chance to talk to Alyssa about the show and other things including her role in Ghostbusters and Charmed.

Alyssa Milano likes to think of her new sitcom Romantically Challenged (premieres tonight, ABC, 9:30 p.m. Et) as Friends for the Facebook and Twitter generation. "It’s edgy and real and about a group of friends who are functional and awesome when they’re together, but outside of their circle, they’re socially inept," she says. The show, created by Ricky Blitt (who's written for Family Guy and Politically Incorrect), follows Milano's character -- a lawyer and single mother named Rebecca -- as she's, say, encouraged to have her first one-night stand, and Kyle Bornheimer's Perry -- Rebecca's...

If ABC's new sitcom "Romantically Challenged," which stars Alyssa Milano, were an "American Idol" contestant, this review might go something like this:
Hi, Romantically. How you doing tonight? Well, first of all let me say, you look great, and I really do like you. But honestly, that was all over the place for me. I just didn't really get what you were going for there. I know -- "Booo." Sorry.
Because, here's the thing: Milano is gorgeous in "Romantically Challenged" as a newly divorced woman who's not sure how to be single, and she's always been a likable actress. The show, created by "Family Guy" and "The Winner" veteran Ricky Blitt and directed by sitcom king James Burrows, is fairly appealing visually and moves along at a reasonably quick pace. But something about its rhythm is off, and as a result the show never quite hits the target it wants to hit.

No, that's not an assumption on the actress' amorous ways, although I'm willing to put that assumption to the test if she's particularly irked by it.
